>>it is time to take a look at what piers up to from a slightly different perspective to help us do that as scott Sinclair, who is a senior analyst at the enterprise strategy group and scott, thanks for joining us here on the cube. Good to see you today. >>Great to see you >>All right. So let's let's jump into this first. We'll get to the announcement just a little bit first off. In terms of pure strategy as you've been watching this company evolve over over years now. How has it evolved? And and and then we'll move to the announcements and how that fits into the strategy. First off, let's just take them from your point of view. Where have they been and how are they doing? >>Yeah. You know, you know many people know a pure, maybe they don't know of their history is an all flash array. I think Pure has always been ever since they entered the I. T. Industry as as a pioneer. They're one of the early ones that said look we're going all in on the all flash array business and a focus on flash technology. Then there were early pioneers and things like evergreen and things like storage as a service capabilities for on premises storage and the entire time they've had a really you know almost streamlined focus on ease of use, which you know from the outside. I think everyone talks about ease of use and making things simple for I. T. But Pure has really made that almost like core as part of not only their product and they're designed but also part of their culture and one of the things and we'll get into this a little bit as we talk about the announcements but you know if you look at these announcements of where Pure is going there trying to expand that culture that DNA around ease of use or simplicity and expanding it beyond just storage or I. T. Operations and really trying to see okay how do we make the entire digital initiative process or the larger I. T. Operations journey simpler. And I think that's part of where pure is going is not just storage but focusing more on operations and data and making it easier for the entire experience. >>So so how do the announcements we're talking about uh whether three phases here and again we'll unpack those separately but just in general how did the announcements and you think fit into that strategy and fit into their view and your view really of of the market trends. >>You know I think one of the big trends is you know I. T. In terms for most businesses is it's not just an enabler anymore. It is actually in the driver's seat. Uh You know we see in our research at TsG we just did this study and I'm going to glance over my notes as I'm kind of talking but we see one of the things is more than half of businesses are identifying some portion of the revenue is coming from digital products for digital services. So data is part of the revenue chain for a majority of organizations according to what we're seeing in our research and so what that does is it puts I. T. Right in that core you know that core delivery model of where the faster I can operate the faster organizations can realize these revenue opportunities. So what what is that doing to tighty organizations? Well first off it makes your life a lot harder. It makes demands continue to increase. But also this old this old adage or this old narrative that I thi is about availability it's about resiliency, it's about keeping the lights on and ensuring that the business doesn't go down. Well none of that goes away but now I. T. Organizations are being measured on their ability to accelerate operations and in this world where everything is becoming more and more complex they're more demands, organizations are becoming more distributed. Application demands are becoming more diverse and they're growing and breath all of this means that more pressure is falling not only on the I. T. Operations but also on the instructor providers like pure storage to step up and make things even simpler with things like automation and supplication which again we're going to talk about but to help accelerate those operations. >>Yeah I mean if your devops these days I mean and you're talking about kind of these quandaries that people are in. Um but I mean what are what are these specific challenges do you think? I mean on the enterprise level here that that that pure is addressing? >>Yeah well so for example you talked about developers and you know dr going into you know that in particular I want to say let's say you know glancing my notes here, about two thirds of organizations say they're they're under pressure to accelerate their I. T. Initiatives due to pressures from specifically from devops teams as well as line of business teams. So what does that mean? It means that as organizations build up and try to accelerate either their revenue creation via the creation of software or products or things that that drive that support a devops team maybe it's improving customer experience for example as well as other line of business teams such as analytics and and trying to provide better insights and better decision making off of data. What that means is this traditional process of I. T. Operations of where you submit a trouble ticket and then it takes you know after a few days something happens. And they started doing analysis in terms of basically what ends up being multiple days or multiple weeks to end up to basically provision storage just takes too long. And so in these announcements what we're seeing is pure delivering solutions that are all about automating the back end services and delivering storage in a way that is designed to be easily and quickly consumed by the new consumers of I. T. The developers the line of business teams via a. P. S. Where you can write to a standard api and it goes across basically lots of different technologies and happens very quickly where a lot of the back end processes are automated and essentially making the storage invisible uh to these to these new consumers and all of that just delivers value because what what these groups are doing is now they can access that get the resources that they need and they don't have to know about what's happening behind the scenes which candidly they don't really know much about right now and they don't really care >>right. You know what I what I don't see what I don't know won't hurt me. Exactly and as we know it can. Um All right so let's let's look at the announcements Pure fusion. Um I think we're hearing about that just a little bit before earlier in the interview that day was conducting. But let's talk about pure fusion and your thoughts on that. >>Yeah confusion is what I was talking about a little bit where they're they're abstracting a lot of the storage capabilities and presenting it as an A P. I a consistent api that allows developers to provision things very quickly and where a lot of the back end services are automated and you know essentially invisible to developer and that is I mean it's it addresses where you know I kind of talked about this with some of the data that we just you know, some of our research stats that we just discussed but it's where a lot of organizations are going. The bottom line is you know we used to you know in a world where it services weren't growing as fast and where everything had to be resilient available, you could put a lot of personnel power or personal hours focused on okay, making sure every box and everything was checked prior to doing a new implementation and all that was designed to reduce risk and possibly optimize the environment, reduced costs. Now in this world of acceleration, what we've seen is organizations um need faster responsiveness from their I. T. Organizations. Well that's all well and good. But the problem is it's difficult to do all those back end processes and make sure that data is fully being protected or making sure that everything is happening behind the scenes the way it should be. And so this is again just mounting more and more pressure so with things like pure fusion, what they're doing is they're essentially automating a lot of that on the back end and really simplifying it and making so storage or I. T. Administrators can provide access to um to their line of business to development teams to leverage infrastructure a lot faster while still ensuring that that all those back end services, all those operations still happen. >>Port works, data services also announced and hearing from Dave from that perspective, maybe a game changer in terms of storage. So your take on that import works. >>I really liked what works. I've been following them ever since prior to the acquisition. Um, you know, one of the things that they were very early on is understanding the impact of microservices on the industry and really the importance of designing infrastructure around for that for that environment. I think what they're doing around data services is really intriguing. I think it's really intriguing first off for Pure as a company because it elevates their visibility to a new audience in the new persona that may not have been familiar with them. Right? As organizations are looking at one of the things that they're doing with this um, with this data services is essentially delivering a database as a service platform where you can go provision, you know, and stand up databases very quickly and again, similar to, we talked about fusion a lot of those back end processes are automated um really fascinating, again aligns directly with this acceleration need that we talked about, so, you know, huge value but it's really fascinating for Pure because it opens them up to, you know, hey, there's this whole new world of possible consumers that where there's, you know, that where they can get experience to really the ease of use of Pure is known for a lot of the capability. Support works is known for, but also just, you know, increase, you know, really the value that pure is able to deliver to some of these modern enterprises >>and just did briefly on the enhancements to Pure one also being announced today. Your take on those >>um you know, I like that as well. I think one of the things if I kind of go through the through the list is a lot of insights and intelligence in terms of uh new app, you know, sizing applications for the environment if I remember correctly um and more, you know, better capabilities to help ensure that your environment is optimized, which candidly is a is a top challenge around the organizations we talked about again, I keep hitting on this need to move faster faster, faster. One of the big disconnect what we've seen and we saw it very early when organizations were moving to for example public cloud services is this disconnect towards for this individual app. How many resources do I really need? And I think that's something that you know, vendors like Pure need to start integrating more and more intelligence and that's what my understanding is they're doing with Pure One, which is really impressive. >>Well, solid takes scott, we appreciate the time, thank you for your insights and what has been a big day for pure storage but thank you again for the time scott some clarity and her enterprise strategy group senior analyst there, let's go back to day Volonte now with more on the cube. >>Thanks for watching this cube program made possible by pure storage? I want to say in summary. You know, sometimes it's hard to squint through all the vendor noise on cloud and as a service and all the buzz words and acronyms in the market place. But as we said at the top, the cloud is changing. It's evolving, it's expanding to new locations. The operating model is increasingly defining the cloud. There's so much opportunity to build value on top of the massive infrastructure build out from the hyper scale is $200 billion dollars in Capex last year alone. This is not just true for technology vendors but organizations are building their own layer to take advantage of the cloud? Now of course technology is critical. So when you're evaluating technology solutions, look for the following first the ability of the solution to simplify your life. Can it abstract the underlying complexity of a cloud multiple clouds connect to on prem workloads in an experience that is substantially identical irrespective of location. Does the solution leverage cloud native technologies and innovations and primitives and a P. I. S. Or is it just a hosted stack? That's really not on the latest technology curve whether that's processor technology or virtualization or machine learning streaming? Open source tech et cetera. 3rd, How Programmable is the infrastructure? Does it make developers more productive? Does it accelerate time to value? Does it minimize rework and increase the quality of your output for? What's the business impact? Will customers stand up and talk about the solution and how it contributed to their digital transformation? By flexibly supporting emerging emerging data intensive workloads and evolving as their business rapidly changed. These are some of the important markers that we would suggest you monitor pure is obviously driving hard to optimize these and other areas. This is a special content program made possible by pure storage. And co-created with the cube. Now in this series, what we're doing is we're exploring the coming together of file and object storage, trying to understand the trends that are driving this convergence, the architectural considerations that users should be aware of and which use cases make the most sense for so-called unified fast file in object storage. And with me are three great guests to unpack these issues. Garrett bell center is the data center solutions architect he's with CDW. Scott Sinclair is a senior analyst at enterprise strategy group. He's got deep experience on enterprise storage and brings that independent analyst perspective. And Matt Burr is back with us, gentlemen, welcome to the program. >>Thank you. >>Hey Scott, let me, let me start with you, uh, and get your perspective on what's going on in the market with, with object to cloud huge amount of unstructured data out there. It lives in files. Give us your independent view of the trends that you're seeing out there. >>Well, Dave, you know where to start, I mean, surprise, surprise data's growing. Um, but one of the big things that we've seen is that we've been talking about data growth for what decades now, but what's really fascinating is or changed is because of the digital economy, digital business, digital transformation, whatever you call it. Now, people are not just storing data. They actually have to use it. And so we see this in trends like analytics and artificial intelligence. And what that does is it's just increasing the demand for not only consolidation of massive amounts of storage that we've seen for awhile, but also the demand for incredibly low latency access to that storage. And I think that's one of the things that we're seeing, that's driving this need for convergence, as you put it of having multiple protocols can Solidated onto one platform, but also the need for high performance access to that data. >>Thank you for that. A great setup. I got, like I wrote down three topics that we're going to unpack as a result of that. So Garrett, let me, let me go to you. Maybe you can give us the perspective of what you see with customers is, is this, is this like a push where customers are saying, Hey, listen, I need to converge my file and object. Or is it more a story where they're saying, Garrett, I have this problem. And then you see unified file and object as a solution. >>Yeah, I think, I think for us, it's, you know, taking that consultative approach with our customers and really kind of hearing pain around some of the pipelines, the way that they're going to market with data today and kind of what are the problems that they're seeing. We're also seeing a lot of the change driven by the software vendors as well. So really being able to support a dis-aggregated design where you're not having to upgrade and maintain everything as a single block has been a place where we've seen a lot of customers pivot to where they have more flexibility as they need to maintain larger volumes of data and higher performance data, having the ability to do that separate from compute and cash. And some of those other layers are, is really critical. >>So, Matt, I wonder if you could follow up on that. So, so Gary was talking about this dis-aggregated design, so I like it, you know, distributed cloud, et cetera, but then we're talking about bringing things together in one place, right? So square that circle. How does this fit in with this hyper distributed cloud edge that's getting built out? >>Yeah. You know, I mean, I could give you the easy answer on that, but I can also pass it back to Garrett in the sense that, you know, Garrett, maybe it's important to talk about, um, elastic and Splunk and some of the things that you're seeing in, in that world and, and how that, I think the answer today, the question I think you can give, you can give a pretty qualified answer relative to what your customers are seeing. >>Oh, that'd be great, please. >>Yeah, absolutely. No, no problem at all. So, you know, I think with, um, Splunk kind of moving from its traditional design and classic design, whatever you want to, you want to call it up into smart store? Um, that was kind of one of the first that we saw kind of make that move towards kind of separating object out. And I think, you know, a lot of that comes from their own move to the cloud and updating their code to basically take advantage of object object in the cloud. Um, but we're starting to see, you know, with like Vertica Ian, for example, um, elastic other folks taking that same type of approach where in the past we were building out many to use servers. We were jamming them full of, uh, you know, SSDs and then DME drives. Um, that was great, but it doesn't really scale. >>And it kind of gets into that same problem that we see with hyperconvergence a little bit where it's, you know, you're all, you're always adding something maybe that you didn't want to add. Um, so I think it, you know, again, being driven by software is really kind of where we're seeing the world open up there. Um, but that whole idea of just having that as a hub and a central place where you can then leverage that out to other applications, whether that's out to the edge for machine learning or AI applications to take advantage of it. I think that's where that convergence really comes back in. Um, but I think like Scott mentioned earlier, it's really folks are now doing things with the data where before I think they were really storing and trying to figure out what are we going to actually do with it when we need to do something with it? So this is making it possible. >>Yeah. And Dave, if I could just sort of tack onto the end of the Garrett's answer there, you know, in particular verdict with beyond mode, the ability to leverage sharted sub clusters, give you, um, you know, sort of an advantage in terms of being able to isolate performance, hotspots you an advantage to that as being able to do that on a flash blade, for example. So, um, sharted, sub clusters allow you to sort of say, I am, you know, I am going to give prioritization to, you know, this particular element of my application in my dataset, but I can still share those, share that data across those, across those sub clusters. So, um, you know, as you see, you know, Vertica with the non-motor, >>You see Splunk advanced with, with smart store, um, you know, these are all sort of advancements that are, you know, it's a chicken and the egg thing. Um, they need faster storage, they need, you know, sort of a consolidated data storage data set. Um, and, and that's what sort of allows these things to drive forward. Yes, >>The verdict eon mode, there was a no, no, it's the ability to separate compute and storage and scale independently. I think, I think Vertica, if they're, if they're not the only one, they're one of the only ones I think they might even be the only one that does that in the cloud and on prem and that sort of plays into this distributed nature of this hyper distributed cloud. I sometimes call it and I'm interested in the, in the data pipeline. And I wonder Scott, if we can talk a little bit about that maybe where unified object and file fund. I mean, I'm envisioning this, this distributed mesh and then, you know, UFO is sort of a note on that, that I can tap when I need it. But, but Scott, what are you seeing as the state of infrastructure as it relates to the data pipeline and the trends there? >>Yeah, absolutely. Dave, so w when I think data pipeline, I immediately gravitate to analytics or, or machine learning initiatives. Right. And so one of the big things we see, and this is, it's an interesting trend. It seems, you know, we continue to see increased investment in AI, increase interest and people think, and as companies get started, they think, okay, well, what does that mean? Well, I gotta go hire a data scientist. Okay. Well that data scientist probably needs some infrastructure. And what they end, what often happens in these environments is where it ends up being a bespoke environment or a one-off environment. And then over time organizations run into challenges. And one of the big challenges is the data science team or people whose jobs are outside of it, spend way too much time trying to get the infrastructure, um, to, to keep up with their demands and predominantly around data performance. So one of the, one of the ways organizations that especially have artificial intelligence workloads in production, and we found this in our research have started mitigating that is by deploying flash all across the data pipe. We have. Yeah, >>We have data on this. Sorry to interrupt, but Pat, if you could bring up that, that chart, that would be great. Um, so take us through this, uh, Scott and, and share with us what we're looking at here. >>Yeah, absolutely. So, so Dave, I'm glad you brought this up. So we did this study. Um, I want to say late last year, uh, one of the things we looked at was across artificial intelligence environments. Now, one thing that you're not seeing on this slide is we went through and we asked all around the data pipeline and we saw flash everywhere. But I thought this was really telling because this is around data lakes. And when many people think about the idea of a data Lake, they think about it as a repository. It's a place where you keep maybe cold data. And what we see here is especially within production environments, a pervasive use of flash stores. So I think that 69% of organizations are saying their data Lake is mostly flash or all flash. And I think we had 0% that don't have any flash in that environment. So organizations are out that thing that flashes in essential technology to allow them to harness the value of their data. >>So Garrett, and then Matt, I wonder if you could chime in as well. We talk about digital transformation and I, I sometimes call it, you know, the COVID forced March to digital transformation. And, and I'm curious as to your perspective on things like machine learning and the adoption, um, and Scott, you may have a perspective on this as well. You know, we had to pivot, he had to get laptops. We had to secure the end points, you know, VDI, those became super high priorities. What happened to, you know, injecting AI into my applications and, and machine learning. Did that go in the back burner? Was that accelerated along with the need to digitally transform, uh, Garrett, I wonder if you could share with us what you saw with, with customers last year? >>Yeah. I mean, I think we definitely saw an acceleration. Um, I think folks are in, in my market are, are still kind of figuring out how they inject that into more of a widely distributed business use case. Um, but again, this data hub and allowing folks to now take advantage of this data that they've had in these data lakes for a long time. I agree with Scott. I mean, many of the data lakes that we have were somewhat flashing, accelerated, but they were typically really made up of large capacity, uh, slower spinning nearline drives, um, accelerated with some flash, but I'm really starting to see folks now look at some of those older Hadoop implementations and really leveraging new ways to look at how they consume data. And many of those redesigned customers are coming to us, wanting to look at all flash solutions. So we're definitely seeing it. And we're seeing an acceleration towards folks trying to figure out how to actually use it in more of a business sense now, or before I feel it goes a little bit more skunkworks kind of people dealing with, uh, you know, in a much smaller situation, maybe in the executive offices trying to do some testing and things. >>Scott you're nodding away. Anything you can add in here. >>Yeah. So, well, first off, it's great to get that confirmation that the stuff we're seeing in our research, Garrett seeing, you know, out in the field and in the real world, um, but you know, as it relates to really the past year, it's been really fascinating. So one of the things we, we studied at ESG is it buying intentions. What are things, what are initiatives that companies plan to invest in? And at the beginning of 2020, we saw heavy interest in machine learning initiatives. Then you transition to the middle of 2020 in the midst of COVID. Uh, some organizations continued on that path, but a lot of them had the pivot, right? How do we get laptops, everyone? How do we continue business in this new world? Well, now as we enter into 2021, and hopefully we're coming out of this, uh, you know, the, the pandemic era, um, we're getting into a world where organizations are pivoting back towards these strategic investments around how do I maximize the usage of data and actually accelerating those because they've seen the importance of, of digital business initiatives over the past >>Year. >>Yeah, Matt, I mean, when we exited 2019, we saw a narrowing of experimentation in our premise was, you know, that that organizations are going to start now operationalizing all their digital transformation experiments. And, and then we had a 10 month Petri dish on, on digital. So what are you, what are you seeing in this regard? >>It's 10 months, Petri dish is an interesting way to interesting way to describe it. Um, you know, we, we saw another, there's another, there's another candidate for pivot in there around ransomware as well. Right. Um, you know, security entered into the mix, uh, which took people's attention away from some of this as well. I mean, look, I I'd like to bring this up just a level or two, um, because what we're actually talking about here is progress, right? And, and progress is an, is an inevitability. Um, you know, whether it's whether, whether you believe that it's by 20, 25 or you, or you think it's 20, 35 or 2050, it doesn't matter. We're on a forced March to the eradication of desk. And that is happening in many ways. Uh, you know, in many ways, um, due to some of the things that Garrett was referring to and what Scott was referring to in terms of what our customer's demands for, how they're going to actually leverage the data that they have. >>And that brings me to kind of my final point on this, which is we see customers in three phases. There's the first phase where they say, Hey, I have this large data store, and I know there's value in there. I don't know how to get to it. Or I have this large data store and I've started a project to get value out of it. And we failed. Those could be customers that, um, you know, marched down the dupe, the Hadoop path early on. And they, they, they got some value out of it. Um, but they realized that, you know, HDFS, wasn't going to be a modern protocol going forward for any number of reasons. You know, the first being, Hey, if I have gold dot master, how do I know that I have gold dot four is consistent with my gold dot master? So data consistency matters. >>And then you have the sort of third group that says, I have these large datasets. I know how to extract value from them. And I'm already on to the Vertica is the elastics, you know, the Splunks et cetera. Um, I think those folks are the folks that, that latter group are the folks that kept their, their, their projects going because they were already extracting value from them. The first two groups we were seeing, sort of saying the second half of this year is when we're going to begin really being picking up on these, on these types of initiatives again. >>Well, thank you, Matt, by the way, for, for hitting the escape key, because I think value from data really is what this is all about. And there are some real blockers there that I kind of want to talk about. You've mentioned HDFS. I mean, we were very excited, of course, in the early days of a dupes, many of the concepts were profound, but at the end of the day, it was too complicated. We've got these hyper specialized roles that are, that are serving the business, but it still takes too long. It's, it's too hard to get value from data. And one of the blockers is infrastructure that the complexity of that infrastructure really needs to be abstracted taken up a level. We're starting to see this in, in cloud where you're seeing some of those abstraction layers being built from some of the cloud vendors, but more importantly, a lot of the vendors like pure, Hey, we can do that heavy lifting for you. Uh, and we, you know, we have expertise in engineering to do cloud native. So I'm wondering what you guys see. Maybe Garrett, you could start us off and the other salmon as some of the blockers, uh, to getting value from data and how we're going to address those in the coming decade. >>Yeah. I mean, I think part of it we're solving here obviously with, with pure bringing, uh, you know, flash to a market that traditionally was utilizing a much slower media. Um, you know, the other thing that I, that I see that's very nice with flash blade for example, is the ability to kind of do things, you know, once you get it set up a blade at a time. I mean, a lot of the things that we see from just kind of more of a simplistic approach to this, like a lot of these teams don't have big budgets and being able to kind of break them down into almost a blade type chunk, I think has really kind of allowed folks to get more projects and, and things off the ground because they don't have to buy a full expensive system to run these projects. Um, so that's helped a lot. >>I think the wider use cases have helped a lot. So, um, Matt mentioned ransomware, um, you know, using safe mode as a, as a place to help with ransomware has been a really big growth spot for us. We've got a lot of customers, very interested and excited about that. Um, and the other thing that I would say is bringing dev ops into data is another thing that we're seeing. So kind of that push towards data ops and really kind of using automation and infrastructure as code as a way to now kind of drive things through the system. The way that we've seen with automation through dev ops is, is really an area we're seeing a ton of growth with from a services perspective, >>Guys, any other thoughts on that? I mean, we're, I I'll, I'll tee it up there. I, we are seeing some bleeding edge, which is somewhat counterintuitive, especially from a cost standpoint, organizational changes at some, some companies, uh, think of some of the, the, the, the internet companies that do, uh, music, uh, for instance, and adding podcasts, et cetera. And those are different data products. We're seeing them actually reorganize their data architectures to make them more distributed, uh, and actually put the domain heads, the business heads in charge of the data and the data pipeline. And that is maybe less efficient, but, but it's, again, some of these bleeding edge. What else are you guys seeing out there that might be some harbinger of the next decade? >>Uh, I'll go first. Um, you know, I think specific to, um, the, the construct that you threw out, Dave, one of the things that we're seeing is, um, you know, the, the, the application owner, maybe it's the dev ops person, but it's, you know, maybe it's, it's, it's, it's the application owner through the dev ops person. They're, they're becoming more technical in their understanding of how infrastructure, um, interfaces with their, with their application. I think, um, you know, what, what we're seeing on the flash blade side is we're having a lot more conversations with application people than, um, just it people. It doesn't mean that the, it people aren't there, the it, people are still there for sure if they have to deliver the service, et cetera. Um, but you know, the days of, of it, you know, building up a catalog of services and a business owner subscribing to one of those services, you know, picking, you know, whatever sort of fits their need. >>Um, I don't think that constant, I think that's the construct that changes going forward. The application owner is becoming much more prescriptive about what they want the infrastructure to fit, how they want the infrastructure to fit into their application. Um, and that's a big change. And for, for, um, you know, certainly folks like, like Garrett and CDW, um, you know, they do a good job with this being able to sort of get to the application owner and bring those two sides together. There's a tremendous amount of value there, uh, for us to spend a little bit of a, of a retooling we've traditionally sold to the it side of the house. And, um, you know, we've had to teach ourselves how to go talk the language of, of applications. So, um, you know, I think you pointed out a good, a good, a good construct there, and you know, that that application owner tank playing a much bigger role in what they're expecting from the performance of it, infrastructure I think is, is, is a key, is a key change. >>Interesting. I mean, that definitely is a trend. That's puts you guys closer to the business where the infrastructure team is serving the business, as opposed to sometimes I talked to data experts and they're frustrated, uh, especially data owners or data, product builders who are frustrated that they feel like they have to beg, beg the, the data pipeline team to get, you know, new data sources or get data out. How about the edge? Um, you know, maybe Scott, you can kick us off. I mean, we're seeing, you know, the emergence of, of edge use cases, AI inferencing at the edge, lot of data at the edge. W what are you seeing there and how does this unified object I'll bring us back to that in file fit. >>Wow. Dave, how much time do we have, um, tell me, first of all, Scott, why don't you, why don't you just tell everybody what the edge is? Yeah. You got it all figured out. How much time do you have end of the day. And that's, that's a great question, right? Is if you take a step back and I think it comes back to Dave, something you mentioned it's about extracting value from data. And what that means is when you extract value from data, what it does is as Matt pointed out the, the influencers or the users of data, the application owners, they have more power because they're driving revenue now. And so what that means is from an it standpoint, it's not just, Hey, here are the services you get, use them or lose them, or, you know, don't throw a fit. It is no, I have to, I have to adapt. I have to follow what my application owners me. Now, when you bring that back to the edge, what it means is, is that data is not localized to the data center. I mean, we just went through a nearly 12 month period where >>The entire workforce for most of the companies in this country had went distributed and business continued. So if business is distributed, data is distributed. And that means, that means in the data center, that means at the edge, that means that the cloud, and that means in all other places and tons of places. And what it also means is you have to be able to extract and utilize data anywhere it may be. And I think that's something that we're going to continue to and continue to see. And I think it comes back to, you know, if you think about key characteristics, we've talked about, um, things like performance and scale for years, but we need to start rethinking it because on one hand, we need to get performance everywhere. But also in terms of scale, and this ties back to some of the other initiatives and getting value from data, it's something I call the, the massive success problem. One of the things we see, especially with, with workloads like machine learning is businesses find success with them. And as soon as they do they say, well, I need about 20 of these projects now will all of a sudden that overburdens it organizations, especially across, across core and edge and cloud environments. And so when you look at environments ability to meet performance and scale demands, wherever it needs to be is something that's really important. You know, >>Dave, I'd like to, um, just sort of tie together sort of two things that, um, I think that I heard from Scott and Garrett that I think are important and it's around this concept of scale. Um, you know, some of us are old enough to remember the day when kind of a 10 terabyte blast radius was too big of a blast radius for people to take on, or a terabyte of storage was considered to be, um, you know, uh, uh, an exemplary budget environment. Right. Um, now we sort of think as terabytes, kind of like we used to think of as gigabytes in some ways, um, petabyte, like you don't have to explain to anybody what a petabyte is anymore. Um, and you know, what's on the horizon and it's not far are our exabyte type dataset workloads. Um, and you start to think about what could be in that exabyte of data. >>We've talked about how you extract that value. And we've talked about sort of, um, how you start, but if the scale is big, not everybody's going to start at a petabyte or an exabyte to Garrett's point, the ability to start small and grow into these products, or excuse me, these projects, I think is a, is a really, um, fundamental concept here because you're not going to just go buy five. I'm going to go kick off a five petabyte project, whether you do that on disk or flash, it's going to be expensive, right. But if you could start at a couple of hundred terabytes, not just as a proof of concept, but as something that, you know, you could get predictable value out of that, then you could say, Hey, this either scales linearly, or non-linearly in a way that I can then go map my investments to how I can go dig deeper into this. That's how all of these things are going to, that's how these successful projects are going to start, because the people that are starting with these very large, you know, sort of, um, expansive, you know, Greenfield projects at multi petabyte scale, it's gonna be hard to realize near-term value. Excellent. Uh, >>We we're, we gotta wrap, but, but Garrett, I wonder if you could close it, when you look forward, you talk to customers, do you see this unification of file and object? Is it, is this an evolutionary trend? Is it something that is, that is, that is, that is going to be a lever that customers use. How do you see it evolving over the next two, three years and beyond? >>Yeah, I mean, I think from our perspective, I mean, just from what we're seeing from the numbers within the market, the amount of growth that's happening with unstructured data is really just starting to finally really kind of hit this data delusion or whatever you want to call it that we've been talking about for so many years. Um, it really does seem to now be becoming true, um, as we start to see things scale out and really folks settle into, okay, I'm going to use the cloud to start and maybe train my models, but now I'm going to get it back on prem because of latency or security or whatever the, the, the, um, decision points are there. Um, this is something that is not going to slow down. And I think, you know, folks like pure having the ability to have the tools that they give us, um, do use and bring to market with our customers are, are really key and critical for us. So I see it as a huge growth area and a big focus for us moving forward, >>Guys, great job unpacking a topic that, you know, it's covered a little bit, but I think we, we covered some ground. So, so Dave, I'm glad you brought this up. We had to secure the end points, you know, uh, you know, in a much smaller situation, maybe in the executive offices trying to do some testing and things. Anything you can add in here. Garrett seeing, you know, out in the field and in the real world, um, but you know, in our premise was, you know, that that organizations are going to start now operationalizing all Um, you know, security entered into the mix, uh, which took people's attention away from some of this as well. Um, but they realized that, you know, HDFS, wasn't going to be a modern you know, the Splunks et cetera. Marc Andre Sinclair, director of digital marketing Platform Content Strategy Export Development Canada E D. C. Welcome to the Cube. Thank you. So love your channel. Digital marketing platform content strategy. That's kind of in the center of all the action. So, you know, you've been doing some transformation. Tell us your story. What do you guys do? What was what was that? What's the story? >> So I joined E. C. Exported moment Cata two years ago, really helping them out on the overall digital transformation. So I've been fortunate, joined the organization as the moment that they're our position. We wanted to change like we weren't a mandate to gain back some relevance in the market. CDC exists how occasion businesses go beyond the borders, go international. So they really wanted to be relevant to the market because we're not competing with the markets were really just like a compliment in a market. So we've been on that journey distrust, transformation For the last two years, we've are now competing the first phase of a transformation and just about two years, which normally takes four years in the industry. And we're now add midway to our overall digital transformation. We want a critical the number of customers that we have in four years, but it's a very aggressive target what we call normal, like a stretch goal that are serious put. So that's what we've been up to in the last two years. >> And what >> was the catalyst? Why the change? Because, well, what was going on kind of behind the scenes t make such an aggressive, so aggressive move. If you look at >> the interest you overall, there's a major shift in what is export. So exporting means merchandising guys ing good for most of the people. When when you look at the shipping industry to software and services, these folks are not perceiving themselves as being on exporter like really, you build a software, you sell it. You don't think about your software getting beyond the borders. So the industry, the overall market size, are the number of companies that we could help in. The country has grown, but our number of customer remained flat. So we wanted to catch back at that market reach. And there was a theater in Perth. Is that forced us to change? But basically it started. What? Our CEO Putting forward a strong paper cultured like really forced people to think differently and change. >> What's the progress Like how you happy with the progress so far? Absolutely. What are what are some of the things you've knocked down already? What was the pick us through the steps? They could screw up the plan. What was the What is the plan? What is completed were how much how much is left. >> OK, so it started for us as a strong investments and over all the marketing tech stocks which started obviously where I will be summit. So we started in the vestments with the Adobe expense manager and it was about us changing the technology that we had in terms of delivering a customer experience. So your approach we took wass people processing technology. But at the middle, we really put the customer experience at the forefront of everything at the art of every decisions. Makings. So for us were Margaret, we're finishing the migration as we speak right now. That's the first phase. And now with the partner that we have X censure. We're looking in terms ofthe archaic. How can we build capabilities back in the business? Because we've outsourced are full function to our partner. And now it's about how do we get the right level of cost tower scalability for the future so we can deliver premium customer experience. So a lot of activities have happened. We went into natural transformation at the same time, the organization has embraced our job overall and now we're really thinking about was the future data customer experience. So these are the biggest shift that their condition is looking at As we stand right now, we've done the migration and we can now start to think about personalization experimentations. These are all the cool things that we have ahead of us. >> What was the heavy lifting hard part of getting this off the ground? What, some learning or any experiences where you, you know, failed miserably and rebooted or reset means you learned through it oration. We see these successful projects. What's the key learnings? Have you had any moments like that? >> Definitely So So, First of all, I would like to talk a bit about the fail approach because this is something that wasn't obviously part of the organization. And that is something fundamental to a change in organizations. So to quote my boss fail stance or first attempt and learning, So you got to get out and you got to try things and we gotta experiment. Otherwise, you're not really pushing the boundaries. Eso I'm proud of her failure and actually won an award about failure last year at our, um, organizations. So they have a corporate awards that recognise people that do fails but move on and fell fast, like that's a spirit. So for us as, say, at the beginning, the biggest part of a project was to get the what I call the M V P. Zero. So we have to change from a nun premise toe called architectures. And when you start to do these things at an organization that has never done cloud, you uncover a lot of stuff a lot of security protocols, firewalls kicking in. So our first BP zero just to set the infrastructure has been quite a challenge. I think we went three times out, and the third time was the right one. But this is the critical one where you start to build credibility. And even though for us we're working and agile every two weeks without ever cradle to grave, everything full blown experience, this one was really a longer one. And we were really made sure that the requisition understood that this is complicated When you do the foundation. This >> is company goes cousins to say its foundational. So I'm going to take your time. You've got to get that right. Can't have any cracks in the foundation because you're building on top of it. Exactly. So that three attempts you. You said you went out for forbid, or how did three attempts of building it was >> so the throughout That's R about us deploying the full Levi's serology in the clouds. So first time we went uncover a few things. Second time, not anything pop up weren't aware. And then the third time we went out. Third time's a charm to say we went >> out. It was good >> way. Nailed it on that >> time. It's the >> price I didn't invite you on stage. I don't know if you caught that in the Kino. Towards the end of his keynote, he said, We need to have an award for people that disproved their own hypothesis. Exactly so. But you said it's interesting. He said. The people part was hard in the process, and yet it was a top down initiative from the CEO. So was it not bought in a kind of the mid tier management level? The senior management? Why, if the COC and we need to do this, was it hard to move those different party organization? Well, >> I'd say the people part was more about having the right talent on the right mind sets. So one to CEO put forward the culture paper, the stretch goals. Really the organization started to organize themselves on. Are we going to make that thing happened now? Like we need to work differently. And this is not about just more cash, more at counts. We need to re engineer a bit the way we were working, so I wouldn't say that there was an issue with with the way or the people of today was just like you start through higher scrums, you start the heart coach to start our appeal. These are skills says that you've never had. Like at the beginning of the project, we had new marketing talent. We had new partner for the ritual that every we have a new partner for agile and we also have new technology. So you start with a lot of new stuff at the same time. So I'd say these are natural things that you have to do. Is it easy? No, not necessarily. But we had a lot of support from the sea level standpoint. >> It sounds like you guys have a very Dev ops oriented culture because talking about failing fast is a cultural cloud concept. I mean agile iterating scrums. This's a dev ops mindset, infrastructure. It's code. Did you guys have that built in Or you said you started three years ago. Was that was that the core cultural mindset? >> So I wouldn't say that we're a dev ups type of culture of mentality, I would say, actually, it's probably the part that we still need to invest hard because now we build a fully whole machine that scaring and pushing the machine you start uncover that once you go that full cycle, few things are popping up, so you know, and and the in the nineties are beginning of this of two thousands. Like when you were thinking about nal ticks, people were always like, Okay, let's let's do this on our techs use case. Our position at the end. Let's do your documentation at the end. It tends to be the same thing with Dev up. Sometimes like we have a strong architectural when in terms of regression, automation and all these things, we truly need to invest a bit more so we can have a because we're playing every single two weeks that we wanted or not. So that's a lot of pressure on all the people that do, que way you waited to make sure everything >> you want to get it right first, then kind of bolted on after as more of an operational models >> way had a very strong foundation, and now we're spinning everything. >> It's all I got to ask you about the export piece of it because, obviously, um, international global competitiveness is a big force. Right now, people have to be global and data privacy. You mentioned. We talk about genie pr before we came on camera you an opinion on this. Do you have anything? You? Could you please share your view on TV? I really Well, I thought it's valuable. >> Yeah, absolutely. So what I didn't mention when we chatted about that before is Wei thought a lot about you. We need to comply to GDP. Are because this is ah, European regulation. And we headed up that Yes, a CZ. Because we have prisons internationally and erupts. Not everyone that has that opinion that they need to comply. But what we've uncovered was one, one or two weeks before the D days on May twenty fits that We needed to be compliant. So what has happened is in two weeks, we stop everything. We worked twenty four hours for two weeks to restructure the platform to make sure that we were, like, compliant to do CPR. And then after that, we fought a lot. Next few months, we'LL look into it. Are we going to make that thing right? Because people are scared of gpr, but that you want it or not? This is just a beginning way. See it with the California Act Canada as a castle. I'm pretty sure they're going to be very aggressive, so you need to make sure that you really invest in. There are privacy management and all these things. At the end of the day, if it's well done, your customers will love it. The issue is people are being a bit sneaky without the use data. But if you're being transparent and you're being honest with the way you use the data and you're being fully disclosing what you're doing, it's not an issue you need to embrace it. Actually, I think that's a commis it embrace it because it's going to be part of our journey that we >> want to do the tough work up front for you. He was forced to because you are building something new. And then, well, the deadlines here, so is the struggles. Hard works. He had to grind it out. So you and then once you get over that, prepare for it, invested it, nurture the strategy for that. What's the advice to give someone sets there has to do the GPR and might not be into the time pressure, but it's starting out and saying Okay, I got to get my arms around this. What's the core issues well, getting started, not colour, but like what's playbook? >> So the playbook and say like if you think about G p r. This is basically for the European. You If they're not giving you the right tio leverage cookies and tracking and all these things, you should not be doing it. So it's simply thinking in your implementation of a piece of software that goes at the beginning that says, Do you want to have full functional thief, full personalization or not? And don't look at GDP R. But look at the customer experience. If you put the customer once again at the forefront and you really think about what does it make sense? You know if if you and I get on the Web sites and we see that thing that is fronting A, I know what you've done last summer like it's kind of creepy. You don't want to have these things. And so you just build that customer experience around their privacy management, and then everything will fall together. >> So build it into the product. >> Yeah, platform, yeah, and do it the right way and compliance will follow. Don't do it to be compliant. Don't >> exactly do it through a customer experience, >> right? Right. So how's this success band in terms of getting into some of these new markets for you in terms of software and services and some of the other export markets? So, so >> interesting question, because two years ago a DC was focused on to court things, financial products and insurance products. So right now we've expended our product line, and we're now having this what we call knowledge business. So if you think about occasion, business or any business that wants to go beyond the borders, this's quite scary to go in the international game. So now we're capable of offering them a lot of insights on international market out the exports virus key questions that haven't her journey. So we're not helping them to our journey and also as were wet and better than the international supply chains. We're helping them with connecting with big, big companies that are leveraging or looking for some capabilities that we have in the country. So we've really skilled up the product line that we have. We're really shifting the model. We're working a lot with the banks and the way we're supporting the Cajun businesses so like it's days and nights, the type of products that have a solution, the experience that were providing, uh, from two years ago. Do we still have work? Absolutely. Like digital transformation is never such a thing that is completed. The key essence here. The key message is, it's never done, and the customer experience has to be at the forefront if you think about the customer experience. It just happened that most of the experiences digital these days so test our mission is never handing. >> I think I think it's a great mind set. I think that's so smart. It's not just about mobile first or cloud for just customer center. From the beginning, I'm gonna ask you the question. What's it like working with a century Iraq? That what role that they play with a easy to work with the good? What's the story? >> Absolutely. I'm very pleased with the team that we had. We have strong people from Accenture were fully leveraging the network that they have because they're distributed in the global business. Axe Central, for us, is doing all the delivery stuff, the the very difficult stuff behind the scene that is normally like your function that you haven't an organization. So we've been extremely pleased on DH. Actually, I think that the fighter fact that were capable of delivering every single two weeks and agile were pure, agile. You will hear in the industry that some people think they're our job, but they're actually hybrid Elijah. So we're full blown, agile the organization. And they've been strong partner with us on that journey. >> That's awesome. Well, I love the story looking for to keep it in touch. Keep us posted on When you get this transformation. Chris Lynch, Tech Tackles Cancer
(bright music) >> You know, there's a lot of negative press around the technology industry these days. The tech lash is somewhat understandable, people are struggling and yet the tech industry is booming, creating incredible wealth for a relatively select group of people. I get it. But the reality is, that the technology industry has guided us through the pandemic, allowing us to work remotely, securing our employees, keeping goods and services flowing, and using data and analytics to track COVID and accelerate the development of vaccines. And many in the tech industry are passionate about giving back and applying their talents to solve real world problems. I'll give you an example. After accidents, cancer is the number one cause of death among young people. In the middle of the 20th century, the survival rate for kids with cancer was 0.0%. Today, it's above 85%. Cancer in kids is much different than in adults. The types of cancer, the diagnoses, the treatments, they vary. Different types of research are required to attack the problem. And that takes money. And one of the people here in Boston and beyond that's using his talents, his creativity, his network, and yeah, his wealth, to attack this problem, is my friend, Chris Lynch, entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. Chris, awesome to see ya. Welcome back to theCUBE my friend. >> Thanks, Dave. It's great to be here. >> So, listen, this personal story of yours, how'd you get into, where's the passion come from for kids with cancer? >> Dave, it's actually related to one of my startup endeavors. When you're starting, bootstrapping your company, you're typically staying at people's homes to save money. >> Sleeping on couches. Yeah. >> Yeah, yeah. Pretty much. And for the years of these startups, I've developed relationships with families all over the world, 'cause I've literally lived with them for periods of time until the companies got to points where we didn't have to do that. And there was a family in Seattle that I used to stay with, and they had a son that was a similar age to one of mine and he ultimately passed of cancer. And I stayed with the family, and I stayed with them a few times while they were going through this, and I was touched, I was inspired by their courage, how positive they were. I was thinking in my own circumstance, how could I, I would just hate the world. And in these families, I stay there, they call me Uncle Chris. And I was having dinner at the family home and I was looking at the boy, and I excused myself, went to the bathroom and I started sobbing, and he knocks on the door, comes in and says, "Uncle Chris, it's okay. My dad tells me you can do anything. Just do whatever you can so that other kids don't have what I have." You know and... >> Wow. Wow. And I can see the emotion that you're feeling right now, bringing us back to that moment. >> Well. Yeah. >> It's unbelievable. All right, so you got Tech Tackles Cancer. Is this your latest venture? I think the last one was 2018. It's coming back, took a break 'cause of COVID, and this is going to go down on the 21st at The Sinclair in Harvard Square. Bring a bunch of people in. We got a number of people who have signed up to, actually you're one of them, of course, but to sing karaoke, raise a bunch of dough, and then there's like a little contest, right? So... (he chuckles) Alex, bring up that slide. I got to show the audience who we got here. And this is, Chris, this is your competition. So, here you go. We got, Steve Duplessie, right? That's a great picture, Steve. Thanks for doing this, right. Nathan Hall, who's at Pure Storage. Steiny, Ken Steinhardt, from INFINIDAT. And you got George Hope at HPE. And Joe Lemay, who's an inventor, he's the CEO of Rocketbook. Any of these guys worry you? >> I'm going to sleep easy tonight. (Dave laughs) >> So, how did you get into rock and roll? You wrote a blog one time. You quoted Nietzsche saying that life without music would be a mistake. Rock and roll. Rock on. How'd you get into rock and what's your passion there? >> Well, I always loved rock and roll but I had someone that was staying with us who was a student at BU, and he went to his semester abroad, he went to the UK. And he came back with all this punk rock music, the Sex Pistols and all this stuff. And I heard it and it just triggered something in me. And then I didn't want to do anything but play music and try to be a musician, and my grades and everything else suffered as a result. But music's always inspired me, the creativity, the boldness. A lot of things that I think I apply to my startup life. >> How could people help? Let's say they want to get involved. I mean, obviously, they can attend the event, they donate. What should people do? They could sing? >> Yeah. So they can certainly sponsor the event. There are a number of sponsorship opportunities. They can participate. They can volunteer for the event. It is an all-volunteer organization. Every dollar that we raise goes to the charities that we've listed. And we handle everything else through a lot of arm twisting and whatnot. >> Great. So it's June 24th, sorry, June 21st, at The Sinclair, which is right in Harvard Square. So it's live band karaoke, right? >> Correct. >> I've seen some of the, we're going to share a little clip there. And so, it's a call to action to all you rock and roll technology gods out there. You know, we showed you the five folks plus Chris who were doing it, and so we're dying to see you up there again, you must be really excited about it. >> I am, I am. (upbeat music) >> On June 21st in Cambridge mass at the Sinclair in Harvard Square, Tech Tackles Cancer is back after a COVID hiatus with live band karaoke and some local tech celebrities raising money for a great cause. The Cube is a media sponsor of the event and Josh Epstein, local marketing exec and one of the events organizers is here to tell us more. Josh, good to see you, welcome. >> Good to be here, Dave. >> So tell us about this event. What's going on? What are the logistics? How's that all work? >> Yeah, we're super excited. So as you said, June 21st at the Sinclair in Harvard Square, Sinclair, if you haven't been there is just the great old school rock club. So we'll be there from 6:00 to 10:00. We will have live band karaoke. So the main event and kind of the primary fundraising approach here is that we have some celebrity technology rock gods these featured performers like Chris Lynch who was the founder of Tech Tackles Cancer, who are are raising money from basically now, up until June 21st. Then at the event, their fundraising will culminate with them singing a live song backed by a live band. And the awards will be given out to the most money raised, the best performance and the best stage presence. So it will be a lot of fun. >> So the fundraising format is I sign up to sing do the karaoke with a live band which is a little bit different. And then I raise as much dough as possible. So obviously that's competitive. >> It's competitive, I think that we ask for a minimum of $10,000 targeted for each of the fundraisers but knowing these guys, knowing guys like Chris Lynch, they don't like to lose. So the bet here is that people are going to go out, they're going to hit their network and they are going to look to kind of raise the most money. So we anticipate this to be a great event with a lot of money raised and a lot of fun. >> So we have a graphic from Alex. If you could bring that up of the people who have signed up for this already. We got Steve Duplessie, founder of of ESG, senior analyst. They sold their company to Tech Target, which is awesome. Congratulations to those guys and thank you for stepping up. George Hope, who heads partner sales for HPE, Joe Lemay of Rocketbook Nathan Hall from Pure Storage, system engineering guy and of course, Steiny, Ken Steinhardt from Infinidat. He was at EMC, he's the field CTO now. He's going to be up there singing. So of course, Chris. >> Absolutely, these are just the early entrance here. So we just started really working our networks. And obviously, I'm a Boston tech guy kind of working the storage networks, the networking networks and kind of the other folks that are around. So as we come out of stealth here in April and start really recruiting, we anticipate having probably 10 to 15 of these featured performers, really fundraising performers that we'll sing. And then we're also obviously soliciting broader donations from anyone who wants to come to the event or just give to the cause and the corporate sponsorships as well. >> All right, so you got corporate sponsorships. You can sing, you can donate you can be there just to support it. That's fantastic and the awards, how's that work? >> Yeah, so we're excited. So first off, most money raised wins an award. So we'll have a leaderboard on the website, we'll be able to kind of track who's raised what, at the event, we're going to have some celebrity judges that will be actually voting for their favorites and then have a crowdsource component as well. So we'll introduce what that mechanism is. But as people, either at the events or a watching in streamed live on LinkedIn live, we'll actually vote for their favorite performance as well as their their pick for best stage presence which we know in rock and roll is half the battle. >> Now this cause has raised a bunch of, I think last time, you guys did this, it was probably a quarter million or close to it and you support multiple causes. What causes are you supporting? >> Sure, yeah, actually I think since they founded the event several years ago they raised over $2 million. This year for this format where we're looking, we can really up our game here but this year we're supporting two really great causes that are both focused on pediatric cancer. The first is St. Batrick's that is really committed to raising funds for research to really help stamp out pediatric cancer really. The approach to researching cures and treatments to pediatric cancer is very different from regular adult cancer. So St. Batrick's does a great job of picking those research projects that really target in on those pediatric cancer causes. And then the second is one mission. And one mission really outlooks to help make pediatric cancer patients that are spending time in the hospital, making their time less stressful, less painful, less sad, less boring. And so they do a lot of fundraising and contributions targeting children's hospitals, really around the country for those pediatric cancer floors. >> Josh, amazing cause. baldrick's it wasn't it was obviously about the kids but it was also about the family as well right because they're going through right i mean you know we all know as parents how hard it is to be a parent can you imagine having a parent that's you know got a disease like that so it's not just about you know the the cancer and the research it's about the supporting the families as well right that's right and that's why one mission is you know one one of our um you know big beneficiaries you know of of the work we do um because it's obviously we want to find cures um but people you know families are affected every day and we need to provide them the kind of support um you know that that they any child should have and any family should have in this circumstance all right so you got tech tackles cancer this is your latest venture i think the last one was uh 2018. it's coming back took a break because of covid obviously uh but so it's live band karaoke it's the tech industry your network and beyond really kind of giving back how does that all work well basically you know we we once i learned that pediatric cancer was different and that there was it was underfunded we wanted to raise awareness for that we wanted to raise funds to take a different approach applying sort of venture principles how i invest in companies and find the best research in the world which is not in any four walls of any sort of research center so we get the best research from around the world and that we decided to put the money invest the money as well as the support services around those that you know are affected today yeah okay so we've got actually so what's going to happen and this is going to go down on the the 21st at the sinclair and harvard square bring a bunch of people in we've got a number of people who have signed up to actually you're one of them of course but to to sing karaoke raise a bunch of dough and then there's a little contest right no alex bring up that slide i gotta i
