>>Welcome back to the cubes coverage of H P S. Green Lake announcement. We've been following Green Lake and the cadence of announcements making. Now we're gonna talk about ransomware, ransomware become a household term. But what people really don't understand is that virtually any bad actor can become a ransomware criminal by going on the dark web hiring a ransomware as a service sticking, putting a stick into a server and taking a piece of the action and that is a really insidious threat. Uh, the adversaries are extremely capable, so we're going to dig into that with Omar assad, who's the storage platform, lead cloud data services at H P E and Deepak verma vice president of product Zito, which is now an H P E company Gentlemen, welcome to the cube. Good to see you. Thank you. >>Thank you. Welcome. Pleasure to be here. So >>over you heard my little narrative upfront. How does the Xarelto acquisition fit into that discourse? >>Thank you. Dave first of all, we're extremely excited to welcome Sir toe into the HP family. Uh, the acquisition of Puerto expands the Green Lake offerings from H P E uh, into the data protection as a service and ransomware protection as a service capabilities and it at the same time accelerates the transformation that the HP storage businesses going through as it transforms itself into more of a cloud native business, which sort of follows on from the May 4th announcements that you helped us cover. Uh, this enables the HP sales teams to now expand the data protection perimeter and to start offering data protection as a service and ransomware as a service with the best in class technologies uh, from a protection site as well as from ransomware recovery side of the house. And so we're all the way down already trying to integrate uh, you know, the little offerings as part of the Green lake offerings and extending support through our services organization. And the more of these announcements are gonna roll out later in the month. >>And I think that's what you want to see from it as a service offering. You want to see a fast cadence of new services that are not a box by a box that are applying. No, it's services that you want to access. So let's, let's talk about before we get into the tech, can we talk about how you're helping customers deal with ransomware? Maybe some of the use cases that you're seeing. >>First of all, extremely excited to be part of the HP family now. Um, Quick history and that we've been around for about 11 years. We've had about 9000 plus customers and they all benefit from essentially the same technology that we invented 11 years ago. First and foremost, one of the use cases has been continuous data protection. So were built on the CdP platform, which means extremely low RTO S and R P O S for recovery. I'll give you example there um, United Airlines is an application that cost them $1 million dollars for every hour that they're down. They use traditional approaches. That would be a lot of loss with Zito, we have that down two seconds of loss in case and the application goes down. So that's kind of core and fundamental to our plaque. The second uh critical use case that for us has been simplicity. A lot of customers have said we make the difficult, simple. So DRS is a complex uh process. Um, give you an example there. Hcea Healthcare Consolidated four different disaster recovery platforms into a single platform in Puerto and saved about $10 million dollars a year. So it's making that operations of having disaster recovery process is much simpler. Um the third kind of critical use case for us as uh, the environment has evolved as the landscape has involved has been around hybrid cloud. So being able to take customers to the platforms that they want to go to that's critical for us And for our customers an example, there is Kingston technology's so Kingston tried some competitive products to move to Azure, it would take them about 24 hours to recover 30 VMS or so with zero technology. They will get about all their 1000 VMS up in Azure instantaneously. So these are three use cases that were foundational. Built. Built the company in the tech. >>Nice. Thank you. Thank you for that. So simple works well these days, especially with all this complexity we have to deal with. Can we get into the secret sauce a little bit. I mean CdP has been around forever. What do you guys do that? That's different. Maybe you can talk about that. Sure. >>Um it's cdp based, I think we've perfected the technology. It's less about being able to just copy the data. It's more about what you do when things go bump. We've made it simpler with driven economies of scale lower and being platform agnostic. We've really brought that up across to whatever platforms once upon a time it was moving from physical to virtual or even across different virtualization platforms and then being able to move across to whatever cloud platform customer may want or or back >>to cbP continuous data protection by the way for the audience that may not know that go ahead. And >>one of the additional points that I want to add to the box comment over here is the the basics of platform independence is what really drew uh hp technologists into the technology because you know, one of the things we have many, we have the high end platform with the H B electra nine Kv of the electro six kids the midrange platform. Then we have a bunch of file and object offerings on the side. What zero does it University universally applies to all those technologies and along with, you know, as you pair them up with our computer offerings to offer a full stack but now the stack is disaster recovery capable. Natively with the integration of certo, you know, one of the things that, you know, Deepak talked about about the as your migrations that a lot of the customers are talking about cloud is also coming up as a D our use case for a lot of our customers, customers, you know, you know, as we went through thousands of customers interviews one of the, one of the key things that came back was investing in a D our data center which is just waiting there for a disaster to happen. It's a very expensive insurance policy. So absurd. Oh, through its native capabilities allows customers to do is to just use public cloud as a D our target and and as a service, it just takes care of all the format conversions and recoveries and although that's completely automated inside the platform and and we feel that, you know, when you combine this either at the high end of data center storage offering or the middle age offering with this replication, D. R. And ransomware protection built into the same package, working under the same hood, it just simplifies and streamlines the customers deployment. >>Come here a couple of things. So first of all historically, if you wanted to recover to appoint within let's say, you know, 10 seconds, five seconds you have to pay up. Big time. Number one. Number two is you couldn't test your D. R. It was too risky. So people just had it in, they had a checkbox on compliance but they actually couldn't really test it because they were afraid they were going to lose data. So it sounds like you're solving both of those problems or >>or you know we remember the D. R. Test where it was a weekend. It was an event right? It was the event and at the end of july that the entire I. T. Organizing honey >>it's not gonna be home this weekend. Exactly what >>we've changed. That is a click of a button. You can D. R. Test today if you want to you can have disaster recovery still running. You can D. R. Test in Azure bring up your environment an isolated network bubble, make sure everything's running and bring it and bring it down. The interesting thing is the technology was invented back when our fear in the industry was losing a data center was losing power was catastrophic, natural disasters. But the technology has lent itself very well to the new threats which which are very much around ransomware as you mentioned because it's a type of disaster. Somebody's going after your data. Physical servers are still around but you still need to go back to a point in time and you need to do that very quickly. So the technology has really just found itself uh appealing to new challenges. >>If a customer asks you can I really eliminate cyber attacks, where should I put my my if I had 100 bucks to spend. Should I spend it on you know layers and defense should I spend it on recovery. Both, what would you tell them? >>I think it's a balanced answer. I think prevention is 100% impossible. Uh It's really I'd say spend it in in thirds. You want to spend a third of it and and prevention a third of it maybe in detection and then a third of it in uh recovery. So it's really that balancing act that means you can't leave the front door open but then have a lot of recovery techniques invested in. It has to be it has to be a balance and it's also not a matter of if it's a matter of when so we invest in all three areas. Hopefully two of them will work to your advantage. >>You dave you you should always protect your perimeter. I mean that that goes without saying but then as you invest in other aspects of the business, as Deepak mentioned, recovery needs to be fast and quick recovery whether from your recovering from a backup disaster. Are you covering from a data center disaster a corrupted file or from a ransomware attack. A couple of things that zero really stitches together like journal based recovery has been allowed for a while but making journal based recovery platform independent in a seamless fashion with the click of a button within five seconds go back to where your situation was. That gives you the peace of mind that even if the perimeter was breached, you're still protected, you know, five minutes into the problem And, and that's the peace of mind, which along with data protection as a service, disaster recovery as a service and now integrating this, you know, recovery from ransomware along with it in a very simple, easy to consume package is what drew us into the >>more you can do this you said on the use the cloud as a target. I could use the cloud as an air gap if I wanted to. It sounds like it's cloud Native, correct? Just wrap your stack in kubernetes and shove it in the cloud and have a host and say we're cloud to No, really I'm serious. So >>absolutely, we we looked at that approach and that that's where the challenge comes in, Right? So I give you the example of Kingston technology just doesn't scale, it's not fast enough. What we did was developed a platform for cloud Native. We consume cloud services where necessary in order to provide that scalability. So one example in Azure is being able to use scale set. So think about a scenario where you just declare a disaster, you've got 1000 VMS to move over, we can spin up the workers that need to do the work to get 1000 VMS spin them down. So you're up and running instantaneously and that involves using cloud Native uh tools and technologies, >>can we stay on that for a minute, So take take us through an example of what life was like would be like without zero trying to recover and what it's like with Puerto resources, complexity time maybe you could sort of paint a picture. Sure. >>Let me, I'll actually use an example from a customer 10 Kata. They uh develop defensive fabrics, especially fabric. So think about firefighters, think about our men and women abroad that need protective clothing that developed the fibers behave. They were hit by ransomware by crypto locker. That this was before zero. Unfortunately it took they took about a two week uh data loss. It took them weeks to recover that environment, bring it back up and the confidence was pretty low. They invested in, they looked at our technology, they invested in the technology and then they were hit with a different variant of crypto locker immediately. The the IT administrators and the ITS folks there were relieved right, they had a sense of confidence to say yes we can recover. And the second time around they had data loss of about 10 seconds, they could recover within a few minutes. So that's the before and after picture giving customers that confidence to say yep, a breach happened, we tried our best but now it's up to recovery and I can recover without having to dig tapes out from some vault and hopefully have a good copy of data sitting there and then try that over and over again and there's a tolerance right before a time before which business will not be able to sustain itself. So what we want to do is minimize that for businesses so that they can recover as quickly as possible with as little data loss as possible. >>Thank you for that. So, Omar, there's a bigger sort of cyber recovery agenda that you have as part of, of green lake, I'm sure. What, what should we expect, what's next? Where do you want to take this? >>So uh excellent question point in the future day. So one of the things that you helped us, uh you know, unveil uh in May was the data services. Cloud console. Data services. Cloud console was the first uh sort of delivery as we took the storage business as it is and start to transform into more of a cloud native business. We introduced electra uh which is the cloud native hardware with the customers buy for persistent storage within their data center. But then data services, cloud console truly cemented that cloud operational model. Uh We separated the management from, from the devices itself and sort of lifted it up as a sas service into the public, public cloud. So now what you're gonna see is, you know, more and more data and data management services come up on the data services. Cloud console and and zero is going to be one of the first ones. Cloud physics was another one that we we talked about, but zero is the is the true data management service that is going to come up on data services, cloud console as part of the Green Lake services agenda that that HP has in the customer's environ and then you're gonna see compliance as a service. You're going to see data protection as a service. You're gonna see disaster recovery as a service. But the beautiful thing about it is, is choice with simplicity as these services get loaded up on data services, clown console. All our customers instantly get it. There's nothing to install, there's nothing to troubleshoot uh, there's nothing to size. All those capabilities are available on the console, customers go in and just start consuming Xarelto capabilities from a management control plane, Disaster recovery control plan are going to be available on the data services, cloud console, automatically detecting electro systems, rian Bear systems, container based systems, whichever our customers have deployed and from there is just a flip of a button. Another way to look at it is it sort of gives you that slider that you have data protection or back up on one side, you've got disaster recovery on one side, you've got ransomware protection on on the extreme right side, you can just move a slider across and choose the service level that you want without worrying about best practices, installation, application integration. All of that just takes control from the data services, cloud concepts. >>Great, great summary because historically you would have to build that right now. You can buy it as a service. You can programmatically, you know, deploy it and that's a game changer. Have to throw it over the fence to some folks. That's okay. Now, you know, make it make it work and then they change the code and you come back a lot of finger pointing. It's now it's your responsibility. >>Absolutely. Absolutely. We're excited to provide Zito continue provides the desert of customers but also integrate with the Green Green Lake platform and let the rest of Green Lake customers experience some of the sort of technology and really make that available as a service. >>That's great. This is a huge challenge for customers. I mean they do, I pay their ransom. Do not pay the ransom. If I pay the ransom the FBI is going to come after me. But if I don't pay the ransom, I'm not gonna get the crypto key. So solutions like this are critical. You certainly see the president pushing for that. The United States government said, hey, we got to do a better job. Good job guys, Thanks for for sharing your story in the cube and congratulations. Thank >>you. Thank you David. >>All right. I'm so happy to be working with you, John. >> Awesome to see you. Great event, Nutanix Hot, innovative company under a lot of pressure from the M Where, But this marketplace is changing great transition opportunity for these guys. So it's gonna be fun. >> Exactly. And I wouldn't want to get into what we heard on the main stage. We had Dhiraj Pandey up there talking about nutanix. It is a very poignant moment for him because NUTANIX is turning ten this year. That is a milestone in and of itself. This company has really changed so much. It's always been about simplifying data management, but it's no longer a one product company. I wonder if you could just reflect a little bit on the changes you've seen. >> It's been a fun ride of known Dhiraj for ten years. When we first interviewed him when they were misunderstood. Later, no one really got what this h c I was going on. Student Min was early to see it and keep on, but it was for a few years. I was like, Yo, he's crazy entrepreneur But he ended up having the right formula. Very innovative company. They've great product leadership, great engineering, but ten years old, they went public. So they're out in the open. Dellal Technologies went private, reset everything, then went public, kind of forced to go public, and I was doing great. So you have interesting dynamic, the company's ten years old. They went public and how to make all these moves out in the open. So the interesting thing at ten years old for them is that they got a great business and the markets in transition. Hyper convergence, HC Eyes is called, is a solid foundation, but it's changing very radically with cloud technologies and multi cloud. And the enterprise is morphing into right into their wheelhouse, where this simplicity needed theirs, integration needed. All these new opportunities are emerging and they're still small, so they could be nimble. This is the challenge that they have. They have to get out in front this next wave. If they don't, there's going to be competitive pressure. And I think that's the big story that I'm seeing here is they're ten years old. They're not resting on their laurels, that CEOs aggressive. He's taken on VM wear a little bit, and so he's competitive. So we'LL see what happened. >> Well, I think and you said Dheeraj is is a friend of the Cube, So I let's talk about his leadership style. So here, here, here, here's this company that was a tech startup. It now has a market cap in the multiple billions of dollars recently gone public. How would you describe his leadership style and also how it's changed? What, what, since it was sort of a little tech startup? >> Well, D Roger's always been innovator. He's been a visionary again. He sees typical founder. He's got the twenty mile stare, as I call it, you can see around the corner, but that's not going to get him through this competitive battle. He's gotta balance the visionary competitiveness and and strategy with technical execution they need to execute right now because they are under a lot of pressure, competitive pressure they need to increase their sales inside the enterprise to get new logos and new customers. So I think what I'm seeing from his leadership style is it's a call to arms within the company saying We got to go take territory down. We gotta compete not necessarily on a on a head on with se viene where and others but they got They got to continue to be innovating, be competitive. That's Ray technical, and that's something that came out of the analyst meeting yesterday. I noticed was he's very tactical, usually is painting the picture, but he's got a great vision, and I think that's going to be the challenge. >> I want to talk about partners who are sort of the key partners that you think will help this company grow because it it does take a village >> well, the interesting strategy than Nutanix is looking at, in my opinion, this skin my opinion, but they have a partnering strategy. Del Technologies and GM was all part of a portfolio of end to end strategy. So really, the big competitors against for Nutanix is going to be Del del Technologies and their family. Cos Nutanix is going after more of a partner in a strategy they announced keep partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise. HP was also competitors in the space, so they got it to create this ecosystem strategy, and it's going to be about partners. And new tennis can integrate with other players. They could be a supplier of technology for the broader market. This is something that's interesting. Everyone's trying to be a broker or they used terms, you know, Gateway to the multi cloud or cloud bro Carmel. These terms been kicked around. But Nutanix truly has an opportunity to take their product leadership and be a partner and tie things together more elegantly than, say, one company into him. >> Let's talk also about nutanix, the business as you. As you have said multiple times, This is Ah is hugely competitive industry. This company is under a lot of pressure. Technically, they've got to be tough, but yet they've also there till they're still small. They can be nimble and innovative. What what What is sort of on Dheeraj is to do list from you speaking as an analyst. >> Well, I think the number one thing I think he's got a really kind of shore up the sales and marketing effort of it because they have. When they compete in the marketplace, they need more competitive wins. These stock has taken a little bit hit lately on some basic fundamentals. Again, I still think they're misunderstood in the market that there's a big upside for Nutanix. But they gotta win Mork competitive deals where they compete with the proof of concept, also known as a POC. They win most of the time, they're gonna take their product leadership and they've gotta win in the field. This is a critical thing and lower their cost of acquisition for customers. That's Aki kind of financial analysis. The other thing that they got to do is continue to get the product leadership and get position for that next wave. That's going to be enterprised and multi cloud, and that's not yet clear. And the numbers don't look that strong. In my opinion, on the growth, it's no one's really got visibility into what those numbers going to look like in their core business. They're H C I business. They're solid, so they gotta build on that, extend out that base, and that's really the core strategy. >> How would you describe the customer mindset because, as you said, this is a company that's misunderstood. They get it and they're sort of waiting for the Cust stirs to catch up or waiting for the market really to catch up. >> The customer angle is interesting because, you know, a lot of people that, like Nutanix, are coming from VM. Where would they pay licenses? And VM where had some misfires in the couple of years ago On product, they kind of got caught back up on shore that up. But that opened up a door for Nutanix. You know, VM. Where's six point? Oh has been talked about as a one of those gaps where opened up the door to Nutanix. So the M, where customers are kind of looking at nutanix. I think the HB relationships interesting because I think that's going to be a whole new set of customer base. But the customer mindset right now is interesting. They want to not consolidate. They want to actually reduce the pain points around dealing with all this legacy hardware legacy software, and I think nutanix his position to come in and say we, Khun, provide integrated solution, Reduce your footprint give you more capabilities and free up the time it takes to manage it. And I think that's one of the consistent thing themes. The other notable thing I noticed another customer base is it's a lot younger and smarter technical people where they don't have that dogma this the way we used to do it. And I think that's going to be an interesting Dev ops opportunity where the younger generation on it would be like, Why we doing this versus this? I think that's going to be very interesting to see if that network effect for NUTANIX will work. >> Well, I'm interested to hear you talk about this younger generation in relation to the customers because Nutanix is also ah, younger Jenna. You know, it's ten years old. It's sort of on the verge of adolescents. Andi and we were just at a deli M C World. That company's turning thirty five next week. Obviously, Microsoft and Apple are well into their forties. Uh, how how would you talk about this company in terms of the of it as part of the new generation of tech companies, Tech powerhouses, Really Well, I >> mean, I think it's a contrast between two styles. Michael Dell is awesome, and what he's putting out there is an end to end strategy for Del. They want to automate. They wanted only infrastructure layer. They want to be the preferred supplier for it. Nutanix a little bit different. They're younger, they're faster, their nimble on. They're taking more integrated approach on a partnership ships centric approach. So I think the style is one of a cheetah who's running fast. That's nutanix. And then the big elephant, which is Del and that just pounding through the through the territory that Del Technologies and GM would have more muscle. So they're goingto they're gonna have some good wins. Their new Tanis has got to stay fast and nimble and kind of just, you know, Bob and weave off of what Dell's doing. So I think that's the opportunity for them is to go to the next level. And I think Dheeraj is sees that the question I see is that because they're a public company, they gotta balance it all out in the open, and they're very transparent companies, so I don't think it will be two hundred challenge, but this is what they have to do they got? Really? Take that revenue up in the cloud and enterprise beyond Hcea >> and Wall Street is watching >> you while she's watching. >> So we have a great show. We have. We're gonna be talking products. We're going to be talking women in tech word social impacts. It's research for our viewers at home. What do you think that they should be looking for in terms of terms of nutanix and in its journey? I think >> that what I would look for and what I'm going to be poking out on the interviews is what's next? Because I think this is a critical bet for the Russian. The team was. Are they on the right wave? Is this what the customers want? What kind of product leadership they have, And then what's the culture fit for what the customers want? And the customers are looking for simplicity. They do what they want to reduce the cost of ownership, and they want to supply. That's going to be around. So I think the key thing is, you know, look for where it goes next. Well, I think and you said Dheeraj is is a friend of the Cube, So I let's talk about his leadership style. He's got the twenty mile stare, as I call it, you can see around the corner, but that's not going to get him through So really, the big competitors against for Nutanix is going to be Del del Technologies and they've got to be tough, but yet they've also there till they're still small. That's going to be enterprised and multi cloud, and that's not yet clear. How would you describe the customer mindset because, as you said, this is a company that's misunderstood. And I think that's going to be an interesting Dev ops opportunity Well, I'm interested to hear you talk about this younger generation in relation to the customers because Nutanix is also So I think that's the opportunity for them is to go to the next We're going to be talking women in tech word social impacts. the cost of ownership, and they want to supply. here in Anaheim, California stay with us.

Drew Schulke is here Vice president of networking product Management at Del Technologies. Good to see you, Drew. >> Thanks for having us. >> You're very welcome. Text coming on. So we're talking networking. It's been an exploding business for you guys. I mean, it's one of the really shining stars of of the portfolio. We're gonna talk a little bit about why, but go back a little bit. Talk about some of the trends and networking over the past several years. Obviously, cloud is changing the way people are looking at networks here, this multi cloud thing, What's going on? >> Well, I think we won the clock back five years ago because that's what I think. We have this seminal moment in networking where we as at the time Della now Delhi emcee took an unprecedented step to say we wanted to segregate the networking stack, for We want the hardware discussion in the software discussion around networking to be distinct on DH. It wasn't, you know, novel for the network at the time, but for the rest of the industry, if you think about the way storage and servers and virtual ization head of all, not really novel. So we were really kind of playing catch up from a networking perspective, and that really opened up a whole new era of covering for us in terms of what we were doing as a networking vendor. You also look at what some of the big hyper scale companies were trying to do with their own networks. And there was this great synergy to put together this cloud computing era networking stack that was fundamentally different than what we've seen for the past twenty years. And we've just seen a massive wave of adoption and moving to this open this aggregated and software to find network ever since. >> So stools up more of a networking guy than I am, he explained to me years ago. Dave, with the Clouds Network's gonna flatten Travis going to go east west, not so much north south, he would draw the diagrams. What did that mean from a from a product perspective for you guys. >> What a member of a proper perspective for us is that we wanted to focus on to your point. This modern networking design, which is you're going to talk about the fabrics. It's all about the fabrics, which is the way we put together that network in the data center to facilitate all that east West traffic. And done correctly, it can scale toe on a massive scale. This is what all the biggest hyper skills air out there running today to support their cloud data centers, which have thousands of servers and thousands of switch, is behind it. So it's a proven model. It could be very, very effective, and ultimately, just in terms of its approach and architecture, the total cost of ownership is significantly lower than what we saw you for the previous twenty years. And then >> just true. It's really interesting, you know, that the challenger of Time is absolutely these distributed systems and it is dis aggregating. At the same time, customers are looking forward to be simplified and, you know, if you can pull things together on DH you look at You know, what I heard on the stage this morning is a lot of the cloud messaging was it was Del Plus Veum wear and partners there to put together that entire solution from a customer. I can't say OK, well, let me get a box and lend me light, load some operating system and take all these other pieces. I can't be building the stack and putting all of these pieces together. So explain how while you're dis aggregating at the end of the day, this is going to be simpler for customers. And operationally, it's something that they shouldn't have to touch too much >> so But by desegregating way, let the software guys do with the software guys do, which is software and software is a powerful tool when it comes to the network that was never really fully tapped until we opened up the switch and allowed it to be, you know, agnostic to the software that was running on top of it. So let me bring up a case in point. Big switch, A big partner of ours who had a big announcement a couple days ago where we're actually entering into an OM agreement. They've got a strong presence here, you know, through their software in that fabric that very, very large and complex fabric. They've done a great job in terms of making that fabric appear to be much simpler than it really is. And it's all about the way you present it in terms of this complexity and how do we manage that? And so our mission in working with companies like big switches to bring a level of simplicity Teo to a piece of the data center that, quite frankly, for the longest time has been thriving on complexity, where people kind of got paid by understanding how complex things were. And it really doesn't have to be that way. Software can be powerful. Software can make lives easier. Software could be an integral part of that transformation story, and networking is no different when it comes to that. >> So you got some hard news? Att, the show today We talked about that. >> Yeah, so a couple of things we have going on. So for one today, we announced a new branding of our networking hardware portfolio. So given that we are powering some of the biggest data centers in the world. We are embracing the power adjective here and going with the power switch brand of networking switches S o joining some of our fellow Delhi and see product lines with that with that power theme on it, I think it's a great transition. And so we're really excited about that. You know, we're going to have some nice themes around flipping the switch from a power perspective, open networking, which a lot of our customers are already doing today. So it's a big one that we have today. Another one that we have is we're announcing a couple of new, actually a new power switches in that portfolio. Some twenty five gigs switches that we're bringing to market really focused on a hyper converge software to find storage use case wherein a great many cases. There's a small cluster that small in size in terms of number of nodes but has a high degree of bandwidth that's required to make it perform. So we've introduced a couple of small poor count twenty five gigs switches as well at the show s so very excited about those being the first to flagship power switch switches that we're bringing to the >> market drops Really interesting. I mean, I worked a DMC and when we worked on some of the package solutions, there was storage networking pieces. But, you know, networking in general, You know, I I had advocated for years. We need to be ableto bundle this together. You want to be able to have that easy button so that I can freakin figure and put everything fainting together there. You can explain that. You know, people think HD either are like, Oh, isn't that have networking all bundled in? How is it tied together? But yet, you know, usually these air kind of separate peace, sis, >> I say, Up until a few months ago, networking was on afterthought from an HD eye perspective. And that's an interesting statement, not just from a deli and see perspective, but leading up to that few months ago. We've been working heavily, for example, with VX rail team, because while hyper convergence has a great story line around collapsing computing storage together in the value prop, there was really, really compelling that working was this kind of well, it's just going to sort of work. But if you took a You know, some deep conversations with customers around problems they saw on deployment and areas where they might be holding themselves back in terms of performance. Of those systems, networking was a common thing. And so for us, it was a no brainer to sit down with the X rail team and say, You know, how do we, you know, force the best practice in terms of the network and just automate the heck out of it? And so what we did is develop a deep set of integrations with the extra manager, where Roos ten operating system can do a handshake with the extra manager and take the number of steps to deploy and Hcea Network and reduce it by ninety six percent. So that's pretty compelling in terms of automation, and we're doing it in such a way that it's always going to be that best practice every time. So there's no guessing on Did I do it correctly? I'm not gonna have a performance issue. Why not just automate that and make it really seem with so great advancements? They're excited about even taking that further with them in additional work down the road next year. >> One of things we're hearing from executives, Adele certainly heard it from From Jeff Clark. Uh, in the analyst breakout this morning is alignment across the portfolio of del companies. Obviously, VM wears a linchpin of your multi cloud strategy. Uh, you can't talk with V M, where executives talked to them without hearing about NSX. So what do you doing with regard to NSX and NSX integration? >> Yeah, great question. So great think. Restoring that we have about NSX is in terms of what it's expecting of what we call the underlay or the physical network that's actually powering the network is they wanted to be fabric based. They wanted to be good at transport and easy to manage. And so a lot of the work that we've been trying to do with them is how do we present that network into an NSX environment so that that physical in virtual network come together in a seamless way? So that's an area that we were spending a lot of time with him. Another area you'LL be moving beyond NSX into other elements that fall within their networking and security business unit is what they're doing at the wide area network. So another big announcement that we have coming out today that I'm really excited to talk about is we've been teaming up with the fellow Claude business within VM Where to deploy what we're calling the s t win. Uh, EJ powered by v m. Where? So this is going to be a turnkey appliance coming preloaded with the fellow cloud software on it running on our new virtual edge products, which is a portfolio of products we added to the networking portfolio about a year ago. And what we believe it's going to go do is enable you know, a significant transformation story of customers that wanna shift to this software to find land. And the economics behind this way don't have enough time in the interview. You need to go into it. But the savings that customers can gain moving to a software defined when strategy just in the transport costs alone with a wider network are compelling. >> Yes, s so just, you know, put a point on that. When when we've looked at multi cloud Esti win is one of those areas that you know, customers said, Oh, this is a real enabler I can't really do multi cloud. I can have a bunch of pieces, but if I want to tie together, if I want to really do anything, they're SD wins. Enablement plain kind of why that is, >> yeah, because ATT the end of the day Look, you're you're sitting there on your call that an end point device and think about the traffic pattern that you're generating as an employee of some of that traffic is going to public Cloud A. Someone's going to public copy. Someone's going to a centralized data center. These traffic patterns, they're becoming more complex. They're carrying more and more traffic as we crank up the band with in terms of what we're trying to support. And so our customers, when they look at that, how did they bring order to that? And if you don't have a software to find approach where you could bring some level of centralization of policy and end the invisibility of all those end points, it's going to become unruly, which, which is what it's become for a great many customers. So it's very rare that I come across the customer that doesn't want to have an ston conversation to your point Because the pain points air, their traffic continues to grow. The multi cloud story means I have to direct it to several different clouds, including my own, including the others. And I gotta have an effective way to go do that. >> What is this? Flip the switch mean? >> Flip the switch. Yeah, great. So you'LL see some people walking around with flip the switch shirts. So in commemoration of our power switch brand that we're announcing today, uh, you know, we want to encourage our customers to flip the switch to open networking to embrace the modern network design that we've been talking about for the past five years that a great many of our customers have been flipping the switch to. So we've been consistently growing about to exit the market in the data center space with what we've been doing with this open networking approach, and we want to crank it up even higher. So we're inviting all our customers toe flip the switch, overto open networking. So >> give us the bottom line. Why? Del Networking summarized it for >> I don't know, working because we're going to be the company that's gonna have the conversation around a modern network that's going to enable you to be a software to find and live in that multi cloud world. Full stop. That's it. Everything we do from the lowest piece of hardware, every piece of software that we work to, the partners that we partner with are all about enabling that journey. Thank you so much for coming on the show. >> Thanks for having >> thanks for having us. So we just had the keynote address we heard from Michael Dell Satya Nadella Pack Girl Singer It's a real who's who of this of this ecosystem. Break it down for us. What? What did we hear? What is what is sort of the most exciting thing from your perspective? >> So, Rebecca, what? What we hear from customers again and again is it's a multi cloud world, right? Everybody has multiple cloud deployments, but we saw that mentioned five on average cloud architectures in customer environments and what we keep hearing from them is they There are operational silos that developed as part of the to set the fellas that are different. The machine formats. All of these things just lied a lot of lead to a lot of operational silos in complexity, and the customers are overwhelming or willingly asking William C. As well as being Where is that? How do we reduce this complexity? How do we we'll be able to move, were close together? How do we manage all of this in a common framework and reduce some of the complexity? So there's really they could take advantage off the promise of Monte Club. >> Yeah, so many. The Cube goes to all the big industry shows. I feel like everywhere I go used to be, you know, it's like intel and in video, up on stage for the next generation. Well, for the last year, it felt like, you know, patent Sanjay, or, you know, somebody like that, you know, up on stage with Google Cloud of a couple of years ago, there was Sanjay up on St Come here. They're searching Adela up on stage. So let's talk about that public cloud piece China. We know you know the relationship with a wsbn were clad in a ws sent ripples through the industry on you know, the guru cloud piece. So tell us what's new and different peace when it comes to come up to public clouded. How does that fit with in relation to all the other clouds? >> Sure, no, I'll amplify. You know what Aaron said, Right? We think about customer choice first. Andrea Lee, customer choice. As you know, you got multiple cloud providers. We've seen customers make this choice off. I need to make this, you know, a multi cloud world. Why're they going towards the multi clothing world? It's because applications air going there on really well, where strategy has bean to say, How do we empower customers without choice? Are you know, eight of us partnership is as strong as ever, but we continue to eat away there, and that was their first going to choice a platform. And Patty alluded to this on the stage. We have four thousand cloud provider partners right on the four thousand block provider partners we've built over the years, and that includes, you know, not small names. They include IBM. They, like, you know, they've got in Iraq space. Some of the biggest cloud providers. So our strategy is always being. How do we take our stack and and lighted and as many public laws? It's possible. So we took the first step off IBM. Then you know, about four thousand. You know, other plot providers being Rackspace, Fujitsu, it's Archie. Then came Amazon. I'm is on being the choice of destination for a lot of public clouds. Today we kind of further extend that with Microsoft and, you know, a few weeks ago with Google, right? So there's really about customer choice and customers when they want the hybrid multi Claude fees his abdomen right. You got two worlds, you couldn't existing application and you're looking Just get some scale out of that existing application and you're building a lot of, you know, native cloud native applications. They want this, you know, in multiple places. >> All right, so if I could just drilled down one level deep, you know? So if I'm in as your customer today, my understanding it's Veum or STD. Sea Stack. What does that mean? You know what I use, You know? How is that? You can feel compare? Do I use the Microsoft? You know System Center. Am I using V Center? You know, >> shark now, and this is really again in an abdomen. Calm conversation, right where they were multiple announcements in here just to unpack them there. It's like, Hey, we had the Del Technologies Cloud platform. The Del Technologies clock platform is powered by, you know, Delhi emcee infrastructure and be aware Cloud Foundation on top, where slicing your full computer network storage with the sphere of visa and a sex and management. Right. And the second part was really We've got being where cloud on a deli emcee. The system brings a lot of the workloads which stood in public clouds. We're seeing this repatriation off workloads back on. You know, on the data center are the edge. This is really driven by a lot of customers and who have built native I pee in the public cloud beyond Amazon beat ashore who want to now bring some of those workloads closer to the, you know, data center or the edge. Now this comes to how do I take my azure workloads and bring it closer to the edge or my data center? Why's that? I need you know, we have large customers, you know. You know, large customers multinational. They have, you know, five hundred thousand employees, ninety locations will wide. Who built to I p or when I say I p applications natively in cloud suddenly for five thousand employees and ninety locations, they're going ingress egress. Traffic to the cloud public cloud is huge. How do I bring it closer to my data centers? Right. And this is where taking us your workloads. Bringing them, you know, on prime closer salts. That big problem for them. Now, how do I take that workloads and bring them closer? Is that where we landed in the Veum wear on Del, you know AMC Infrastructure? Because this big sea closer to the data center gives me either Lowell agency data governance and you know, control as well as flexibility to bring these work clothes back on. Right? So the two tangent that you're driving both your cloud growth and back to the edge The second tangent of growth or explosion is cloud native workloads. We're able to bring them closer. Your data center is freely though the value proposition, right? >> Well, we heard so much about that on the main stage this morning about just how differently with modern workforce works in terms of the number of devices that used the different locations they are when they are doing the tasks of their job. >> You talk a little bit about the >> specifics in terms of customers you're working with. You don't need a name names. But just how you are enabling the >> way get feedback from customers in all industries, right? So you don't even share a few as well Way have large banks that are, you know, they're standardized their workloads on VM where today, right as as have many Morgan is ations, and they're looking for the flexibility to be able to move stuff to the cloud or moving back on premises and not have to reformat, not have to change that machine formats and just make it a little easy. They want the flexibility to be able to run applications in their bank branches right in the cloud, right? But then they don't they don't necessarily want adopt a new machine format for a new standardized platform. That's really what Thie azure announcement helps them do, Just like with eight of us, can now move workloads seamlessly to azure USVI center. Use your other you know, tools that you're familiar with today. Already to be ableto provision in your work clothes. All >> right, so for and what? Wonder if we could drill into the stack a little bit here? You know, I went to the Microsoft show last year, and it was like, Oh, WSSD is very different than Azure Stack even if you look at the box and it's very much the same underneath the covers, there was a lot of discussion of the ex rail. We know how fast that's been growing. Can you believe there's two pieces? This there's the VCF on Vieques rail and then, you know, just help. Help explain >> s o for the Del Technologies Cloud Platform announcement, which is, as you said, VX rail in first hcea infrastructure with Mia McLeod foundations tightly integrated, right, so that the storage compute and networking capabilities of off the immortal foundation are all incorporated and taken advantage off it. In the end structure. This is all about making things easier to consume, right, producing the complexity for customers. When they get the X trail, they overwhelmingly tell us they want to use the metal foundations to be able to manage and automate those workloads. So we're packaging this up out of the box. So when customers get it, they have That's cloud experience on premises without the complexity of having to deploy it because it's already integrated, cited the engineering teams have actually worked together. And then you can then, as we mentioned, extend those workloads to public loud, using the same tools, the same, the MSR foundation tools. >> And, you know, uh, we built on Cloud Foundation for a while, and I'm sure you followed us on the Cloud Foundation. And that has bean when you know yes, we talk about consistent infrastructure, consistent operations, this hybrid cloud world and what we really mean. Is that really where? Cloud foundation stack, right? So when we talk about the emcee on eight of us, is that Cloud foundation stack running inside of Amazon? When we talk about you know, our partnership with the shore, he's not being where Cloud Foundation stack running on a shore. We talk about this four thousand partners. Cloud certified IBM. It is the Cloud Foundation stack and the key components being pulled. Stack the Sphere v. Santana Sex and there's a critical part in Cloud Foundation called lifecycle management. It's, you know, it's missed quite easily, right? The benefit of running a public cloud. The key through the attributes you get is you know, you get everything as a service, you get all your infrastructure of software. And the third part is you don't spend any time maintaining the interoperability between you compete network storage. And that is a huge deal for customers. They spent a lot of time just maintaining this interrupt and, you know, view Marie Claude Foundation has this life cycle manager which solves that problem. Not not just Kee. >> Thank you for bringing it up because, right, one of the big differences you talk about Public Cloud, go talk to your customer and say, Hey, what version of Microsoft Azure are you running and the laughter you and say like, Well, Microsoft takes care of that. Well, when I differentiate and I say Okay, well, I want to run the the same stack in my environment. How do I keep that up today? We know the VM where you know customers like there's lots of incentives to get them there, but oftentimes they're n minus one two or something like that. So how do we manage and make sure that it's more cloud like enough today? >> Yeah, absolutely. So. So there's two ways to do that to one of them is because the V m. A and L E M C team during working on engineering closely together, we're going to have the latest word in supported right right out the gate. So you have an update, you know that it's gonna work on your your hardware or vice versa. So that's one level and then with via MacLeod and L E M C. We're also providing the ability to basically have hands off management and have that infrastructure running your data center or your eyes locations, but at the same time not have to manage it. You leave that management to tell technologies into somewhere. To be able to manage that solution for you is really, as Moody said, bringing that public loud experience to your own premise. Locations is long, >> and I think that's one of the big, different trainers that's going to come right. People want to get that consumption model, and they're trying to say, Hey, how do I build my own data center, maintain it, but the same time I want to rely on, you know, dull and beyond Where to come and help us build it together. Right? And the second part of announcement was really heavy and wear dull on the d l E M C. Is that Manager's offered the demo you saw from June. Yang was being able to have a consumption interface where you could connect click of a button, roll it back into a data center as well. It's an edge because you have real Italy. Very little skill sets where night in the edge environment and as EJ Compute needs become more prolific with five g i ot devices, you need that same kind of data governance model and data center model. Write as as Del Technologies is Liam, where we have the advantage of working with so many customers, hundreds of thousand customers around the world we get to hear and listen and understand what are the cutting edge things that customers are looking for? And then we can not take that back to customers like Bank of America who may have taught about certain scenarios right that we will learn from. But they may not have thought about other industries where things could be applicable to their street, so that drives a lot of our innovation. Very. We are very proud about the fact that we're customer focused. Our invasion is really driven by listening to customers on. And, you know, having smart people just work on this one to work on this problems. And, >> you know, customer wise is a big deal customer choice. That's why we're doing what we're doing with multiple cloud providers, right? And I think this is really a key, too. If you just look at being where's innovation were already talking about this multi claude world where it was like, Hey, you've got workloads natively. So we How do you manage? Those were already ahead and thinking about, you know come in eighties with acquisition of Hip Tio and you if you think about it, you know, we've done this innovation in the cloud space established this hybrid credibility on we've launched with Del Technology. Now we're already ahead in this multi cloud operational model. We're already ahead in this coop in eighties. Evolution will bring it back with the family and listen to the customers for choice. Because of the end of the day, we're here to South customer problems. I >> think that's another dimension of choice that we offer, which is both traditional applications as well as applications of the future that will increasingly, because container based, >> yeah, I just wonder if you could spend on a little bit. You know what? One of the things I said via Moore is great. It really simplified and by environment, I go back. Fifteen years ago, one of things that did is let me take my old application that was probably long in the tooth. Begin with my heart was out of date, my operating system at eight, sticking in of'em and leave it for another five years, and the users that are like, Oh my gosh, I'd need an update. How do we get beyond that and allow this joint solution to be an accelerant for applications? >> Yeah, and I think you know the application is probably the crux of the business, right? >> We'Ll call in the tent from >> change applications of Evolve. This is actually the evolution journey of itself is where they used to be, like support systems. Now they become actually translate to business dollars because, you know, the first thing that your customer awful customer touches is an application and you can drive business value from it. And customers are thinking about this old applications and new applications. And they have to start thinking about where do I take my applications? Where do they need to line and then make a choice off? What infrastructures? The best black mom for it. So really can't flip the thing on. Don't think infrastructure first and then retrospect APS to it. I think at first and then make a charge on infrastructure based on the application need and and really look like you said being where kind of took the abstraction layer away from infrastructure and make sure that you'll be EMS could run everywhere. We're taking the same for applications to say. Doesn't matter if it's of'Em based. It's a cloud native will give you the same, you know, inconsistent infrastructure in operations. >> Okay, we're in that last thing. Could you just tell us of the announcements that were made?
