And the excitement around AWS and the, and the community. >>Yeah. I feel like we've learned so much together. Love co-hosting with you, and so excited for our first conversation this morning with Wira. Welcome, Tim and Kashmira, welcome to the show. How you doing? You both look great for day four. Thank >>You. Yeah, we're doing good. Great. We're doing good. Ready to go. Day four, let's go. >>That's the spirit. That's exactly the energy we need here on the cube. So just in case someone in the audience is not familiar, tell us about Wipro. >>So Wipro is a global consulting company and we help transform our customers and their businesses. >>Transformation's been a super hot topic here at the show, quite frankly a big priority, especially with cost cutting and everything else that's going on. How, how do you do that? How do you help customers do that? Has >>Me run? So we, we, so we have our A strategy, which we call our full stride cloud strategy. So particularly from a cloud perspective here, obviously with aws, we have end to end client services. So from high end strategic consulting through customer journeys, technology implementation, all the way through to our managed services. So we help customers with the end to end journey, particularly as here we're talking about cloud, but also business transformation as well. And we have, you know, a whole host of technologies. So about a few years ago we made an announcement around a billion investment in cloud casual and that Yeah, absolutely. A cool billion and just a cool billion. Yeah. And that pocket >>Change. Exactly. >>Right. And that investment. Over the last few years, we've acquired a number of really exciting companies like Capco, which is a consulting company in the financial services space. We've acquired design companies, a company called Design it, looking at customer journeys and user experience, and then also technology companies called Rising, which looks after the whole SAP space. So we've kind of got the end to end solutions and technologies. And then we also invest in what we call Wipro Ventures. These are really innovative, exciting startups. We invest in those companies to really drive transformation. And the final thing that really brings the whole thing together is that we have decades of experience in engineering. That's kind of the heart of where we come from. So that experience all of that together really helps our clients to transform their business. And particularly as we're talking about cloud helps us to transform the cloud. Now what we are really hoping is that we can help our clients become what we call intelligent enterprises, and we are focusing more and more on customer outcomes and really helping them with those business outcomes. >>Yeah. It doesn't matter what we do if there isn't that business outcome. >>Yeah. That's what it's all about. I'm curious, Tim, to get your, as the America's cloud leader, one of the things that, that our boss, John Furrier, who is the co CEO of the Cube, was able to do every year, he gets to sit down with the head of AWS for a preview of reinvent, right? He's been doing this for 10 years now, and one of the things that Adam Olitsky said to him, this is something about a week or so ago, is CIOs and CEOs are not coming to me to talk about technology. They wanna talk about transformation. Sure, yeah. Business transformation, not an amorphous topic of digital transformation. Are you hearing the same? >>Absolutely. Right. So I think this is my seventh reinvent, right? And I think six, seven years ago, the majority of the conversations you would've had are about technology, right? Great technology, but kind of technology for it to solve it problems. You know, how do I, how do I migrate, how do I modernize, how do I use data? How do I make all this stuff happen? Right now it's about how do I drive new business opportunities, new revenue streams, how do I drive more efficiencies through the manufacturing 2.0 or what have you, right? Yeah. One really good example, like take, take medical devices, right? So like a connected defibrillator, right? Anytime you're building a, what they call an IOT device or a connected device, right? You have four competing an edge device in the space, an edge device, yeah. Right? You have four competing elements, right? >>You've got form factor, power, connectivity and intelligence, and all those things compete, right? I can have all the power if I want, if I can have something as biggest as a tape, right? You know, I can have satellite if I, it gets right off if I can plug it in somewhere. But when you're talking about an implanted defibrillator, right? That, that all competes. So you have an engineering problem, an engineering challenge that's based on a device, right? And then it's gotta connect to the cloud, right? So you have a lot of AWS services, I ot, core device shadowing, all sorts of things. That individual patient then, so, so there's the engineering challenge of, okay, I wanna build a device, I gotta prototype it, I gotta design it, I gotta build it at scale, I have to support it. Then you have a patient, right? Which is the end goal of the business is the patient care. >>They have a console at home that connects to that defibrillator via Bluetooth, let's say. And that's where you get your device updates, just like your laptop, right? You know, now push from where updates to your chest. Yes. Device, ot. It's like, okay, I'm just gonna do this every Thursday, right? So now you've very quickly move to a patient experience and that patient experience will very greatly, right? You know, based on age and exposure to technology and all other sorts of things, how diligent they are. Do they do the update every week Right. To their primary care provider? And then what we're, we're also hearing, okay, so like Kashmira mentioned, we, we can, we can have that design discussion, right? Yeah. We can have the engineering device discussion with our device, device lab. Then we can have our, you know, what's the, what's the patient experience, but then broader, what's the patient experience as they move, as we all do through a healthcare, that's a healthcare network, it's a provider network, it's a series of hospitals and providers. So what does that big picture and ecosystem look like? And it's, you haven't heard me mention server or data center or any of that stuff? No. Right? This is >>The most human anecdote we've had on >>Show. Fantastic. This >>Sidebar. Okay. I mean it great. Keep going. It's wonderful. And it's, and it's, it's fascinating because none of this happens or is possible without cloud and, and the type of services that AWS is, is releasing out into their, into their, into their, into the world, right? But it very quickly moves from technology to human. It very quickly moves from individual to ecosystem to to, to partner and culture and, you know, society, right? So, so these are the types of conversations we're having. I mean, this is kind of stuff that gets me outta bed in the morning. So it's great, right? It's great that, I love that. It's great that we've moved, we moved into that space. >>Well, it's, I mean the human element is so important. Every, every company has to be a data company. Hospitals, absolutely. Grocery stores, retailers, you name it. And what we're seeing is this, and we talk about data democratization all the time. Well, another thing that Adam Slosky told John Furrier is that the role of, of data analysts is gonna, is going to change, maybe go away or the, or the term because data needs to be everywhere. The doctors need the data. Absolutely. Every person in the organization needs to be able to analyze data to deliver outcomes. >>Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. And it's fundamental part of our strategies. And when we are looking at, you know, data is everywhere, you need to really think about how do you align to it. But we are looking at it from an industry perspective. So when we're looking at solutions for our clients, we're looking at how do we deliver data solutions for our bank? How do we deliver data solutions in healthcare? How do we deliver data solutions in various different industry? So >>Many different verticals that you're >>Touching. Yeah, all the different verticals. So that's, you know, we have like a four point strategy industry is the first one. So we have been really worked with a lot of clients around migrations and modernizations. What we're moving to now is really this industry play. So this week we've spent a lot of time with our energy and utilities clients and the AWS practice at banking and financial services, which is a very significant part of our business. Also cloud automotive. This is a really, really, you know, the fascinat, this is so exciting, but the fundamental part of that, it's very, is data, right? It's all hits on data. So it was really great to hear some of the announcements this week around the data piece announcements just for me, that's really exciting. Yeah. A couple of other things that when we're thinking about our overall focus and strategy is, you know, looking at business transformation is, as you mentioned, is the ecosystem. >>So how do we bring all this together? And it's really, we see ourselves as an ecosystem orchestrator, and we are really here to look at leveraging our relationship with the best partners. We've actually met 17 partners here this week and had client sessions with them. And that's, you know, working with the license of Snowflake and Data Break in the, in the data space, our long term partners like sap, ibm, VMware, and you know, and new partners like Con. And we are looking at how do we bring the best of this ecosystem orchestration so that to support those client business outcome. Sure. And then one final sort of pillar, sorry, is talent, right? So the biggest thing that everyone is thinking about and we all think about every single day is talent. So we've done two really exciting things this year. One has been around our own talent. >>So we've really looked at our own internal influences, people who are speaking to our clients every single day. Not so much the technology people, but the client people speaking to the client. And we've really raised the level of cloud fluency with these people so that they can really start to have that discussion. You know, and our clients, you know, they know this technology way better than us, you most of the time. And then secondly, we actually announced last week and, and you initiative, which we are calling skill skills, which is very well known to our AWS clients because AWS provide this skill, skill concept to their clients. But we are the first partner to do the skills. Skills Yeah. From a partnering perspective. And this is really gonna transform. So it's not just about training and enablement, it's actually about creating a journey for you to, you know, do your best work. >>Tim, what, how do you define cloud fluency? We were actually talking about it yesterday. Sure, sure. Yeah. And, and really kind of bringing that across an organization, but what, what does it take for an individual who may not be a technologist to become cloud fluent? >>Sure. Well, there's a couple, there's a couple angles to that, right? One is, one is how do you create cloud fluency for people who might already be technical, right? And that's, and that's, you know, I've spent over a decade with, you know, boutique disruptive consulting companies who live and die by whether they can attract and retain talent. And there's sort of four elements to that. It's, can you, can you show people they're gonna work on interesting stuff, right? Are they gonna be excited about what they do? Can you show that they're gonna expand their skill sets? Yep. Can you show them a career path? And you can, can you surround all of that with a supportive engineering first culture, right? That, you know, rewards for outcomes, but also creates this sort of community, right? Yeah. That's, that's one thing that sort of, you know, that that will be a natural entropy, people will be attracted to that. On the other side of it, as you create fluency, you kind of do it with the conversation that I just had, like around something like medical devices or something like the cloud car. When you just say, look, you start with something everybody already knows, right? We all know what patient care is like. We all know what autonomous vehicles is kind of like, right? And you work backwards from that and say, now here's, here's how all the pieces stitch together to create this end outcome for, for us and for our customers, for >>The, you know, I'm speaking my language, Tim. So I run a boutique consultancy, my talent go, I live and die on that. Quite frankly. It's everything, right? And, and it's so, wow, it's so important. I mean, in eliminating that churn at scale, how big is your team? Now I'm just thinking about this cause I'm sure you're, your talent retention has to be a challenge as well. Sure. >>So, so we have 25,000 woo professionals on aws trained on, you know, tech cloud technologies globally. Impressive. Yeah. And then we have, in terms of our go to market team, we've got 50 strong as well. Well, so we, these are people who are live and breathe aws, right? And speaking and working with the cloud. >>Let's hang out there a little bit. Tell us a little bit more about the partnership with aws. Cast me, >>Let's go to you. Yeah, so our partnership is, you know, it's 11 years strong. It's been an and a really, really great partnership's. >>How longs >>That's true. Yeah. >>No, is you, were, you're, you're like day ones there. That's Yeah. Real legacy it. >>Awesome. You know, this year excitingly, we actually won the APJ partner of dsi, partner of the year. Congratulations. >>Really casual. >>Yeah. Just like >>Married the lead there. Congratulations. >>Yeah. So that really is testament to how we're really knuckling down and working proactively to, to really support our clients. And, you know, the, the partnership is a really, really strong partnership. It's been there for many years with, you know, great solutions and engagement and many of the things I talked about in terms of our industry plays that we're driving. We've got a whole new set of competencies that we've launched, like a new energy competency this year. So we're focusing on industry and then also security, two new security competencies. And you know, what's really exciting on the security side, you saw the announcements around the security data lake, but we've been working over the last few months with Gary, me and his team, and actually are one of the first partners that are driving that initiative. So we're really proud to be part of that. So yeah. You know, and then there's a client engagement as well. So we have a dedicated team at AWS that works with our dedicated team. So we're supporting the client's needs day to day. >>Are you as customer obsessed as AWS is? Absolutely. I >>Figured so. Absolutely. Everything's about the customer. Nothing happens about >>That. Right? Well, you talked about outcomes, it's all about outcomes. >>Well, and I mean, quite literally going for the heart with the defibrillator analogy. No, I mean, you tell the customers at the heart of what you're doing, part of everything. Can't resist a good pun there. So as I warned you, we have a little challenge for you here on the cube. We're looking for your hot take your 32nd sound bite thought leadership. What's the biggest takeaway from the event and moving forward, looking into 2023? Tim, you're giving me that eye contact. I'm going to you first, >>Right? Okay, sure. Love to. So I don't know how hot a take it is, but I kind of see this transition as cloud, as the operating system, right? So, so let's take the, the what we call the cloud car project. We have the connected car. You know, a car is a durable good, and we all know, or there's been a lot of talk about the electric cars or the autonomous vehicles being like more of a computer than a vehicle, right? But a vehicle's supposed to last 10, 15, 20 years. Our laptops don't last 10, 15, 20 years. So there's this cell, there's this major challenge to say, how can I, how can I change the way the technology operates within the vehicle? So you see this transition to where instead of it being a car that, that has a computer, then it, the, the, the latest transition is to more of a computer that, that operates like a car. >>This new vehicle that's going to emerge is gonna be much like a cell phone, right? Where it, it traverses the world and depending on where it is, different things might be available, right? And, and how and how, how the actual technology, the software that is running will, will be, you know, sort of amorphous and move between different resources in the network on the car, everywhere else. And so that's a really different way of thinking about if, if we think about how quickly the Overton window, like what becomes normal, it changes over time. We're really getting to like a very fast movement of that into something like this vehicle's still gonna be something that we don't even maybe think of as a car anymore. Just the way that an iPhone isn't what we used to think of a phone at our >>Pocket computer. Yeah. What's in the mirror part? Great. >>That's kind my >>Take. Awesome. Right? Catch me man. >>Yeah, and I mean I, if I was to suggest that, you know, summarize it by simply, for me it's really focusing on industry solutions, delivering client outcomes, fundamentally underpinned by data security and sustainability. Yeah, you know, I was just graduated high school when I first came to aws. Look, I wanna get your thoughts on, we're gonna do a quick segment here before AMD comes on. Got some great interviews with those guys. You've been here 10 years, you're out in the trenches. Just Andy, Adam Celski, just talked to the VCs, the investment thesis economy. Yeah. This headwinds, tailwinds, depending on which side you're on, you're gonna have a tailwind or headwind. What's the outlook? What's your take of reinvent this year? Aws, the ecosystem and the investment market. >>You know, I think it's, it is a great rebound. The energy's back when it was like pre covid, right? We're saying last year was kind of half the size and you know, be postcode. But I think the show, the energy's great. And Amazon just amazing, right? It's in this economy, what's going on right now in the world. They're still growing, still kicking butt. I think you're gonna see a lot of both enterprise customers and startups start to worry about cost, right? Because I think Amazon's gonna focus like, Hey, how can they help the customers? But the economy for the next year, I think we're gonna see some headwinds. So I think a lot of startups, a lot of customers are gonna worry about cost. >>You're on the board of a lot of startups that are in the cloud, rock sets. One we've covered. I think they're gonna come on here too tomorrow or today. What's your advice on the board level? Go to market. Dial up. Dial down. Sure. What's the strategy marketplace? I mean, how do you give the advice to start? What's the, what's the north star? What's the, what's the advice as the investor? >>Two or three things for most startups, hard roi, like how can you save money? So all the kinda fluffy marketing value you gotta have hard dollar savings, right? Number one, if can save money, you'll do well. Number two, to your point, the marketplace is becoming the channel for startups. These lot of large customers have deals with Amazon through the marketplace. So startup can sell through the marketplace to customers. These lot of CFOs are doing no new vendors, right? It's getting hard, hard to get approved as a startup. So the marketplace become a bigger, bigger deal. >>What about existing ecosystem partners that have been around for the past 10 years? They're independent. They may have their toe in the marketplace, may not, some of them not making their numbers, they're starting to hear things like maybe they'll be re pivoting. People are tooling up. What's the advice for the existing ecosystem partners? Because they're either gonna be like the next data bricks or kind of like maybe >>Everyone's looking for the next data bricks, right? You know, I think for existing partners, you're seeing what's happened. John deals are getting smaller, taking longer to close, right? It's just the reality of what's happening right now. And so for those partners are saying, Hey, focus on the heart roi, be okay with the smaller land and just expand in 23, 24. So just get kind of creative of how you work with customers. And I, like you said, I think Marketplace is is kind of a, a go-to light >>Book. So today, Aruba, the new leader of the, of the partner network, they've merged eight PN with the marketplace. They've now won Coherent organization, not fragmented, I was talking to them last night. They have more startups than ever before coming on board. So the velocity of new venture creation is up, up and to the right still, even in this economy. And as they always say, best time to invest is in a down market. That's like BC 1 0 1, entrepreneurship 1 0 1. What's your advice right now for builders out there looking for that round, trying to get some traction. The agility with the cloud still is there. You can still get time to value. You can still get traction fast. That doesn't go away. What's your advice for the startups? >>Narrow, narrower wedge, right. So I think with like 5,000 startups every single year, there's so much noise. John, look across the floor, a lot of great companies. B, a lot of noise. So I think the more focused wedge you have as a startup and how you can land deliver value, the better land, the very, very sharp wedge expand over time. But just be very specific how you land. >>Awesome. Jerry, great to have you on. I know we wanna make some room on appreciate AMD for squeezing a couple minutes out of their hour and the next hour we're gonna spend with them for your Sage advice final kind of new Insta challenge that Savannah put together, A new host instant challenge, instant challenges. If you had to do an Instagram reel right now, oh, about reinvent this year, what would that Instagram reel be right now? >>I would, I would do the expos scavenger hunt, right? We would have a race of different VCs. You give me a list of five companies, the VCs find the first five companies on the list wins. The wins the race. I think that would be a great challenge. >>All right. What's the most important story this year at Reinvent that you could share with the folks that you could share in terms of what's important, what they should pay attention to, or what's not being told? >>Well, I, I think you talked about your interview with Adam Slosky is the solutions and the what you call the next gen cloud. These high level services. What AWS is doing around these services, it's super interesting. They kind of don't say lead the way, but the responded customers. So they lead the way by kind of following where the customer's going and if, when Slutsky and AWS are doing these solutions, supply chain, et cetera, that tells you kind of where the market's >>Headed. >>Welcome back everyone to Supercloud 22. This is the Cube's live presentation streaming out virtually our inaugural event, kind of a pilot I'm John Furo of the cube with Dave ante. Got a great panel here to discuss the enablers and blockers question mark for superclouds. We got, we got kit Culbert, CTO of VMware basketball, Gor CEO platform nine, and has Pani who is the CEO of RA systems. We got a mix of the big leader, VMware and the upstart companies growing into the same space, all cloud native friends of the cube. Great to see you guys. Thanks for coming on. Thank >>You. >>Start. All right. So there's no debate cloud native is booming. We see that clearly Kubernetes became a unifying force. It's an ops layer kind of almost like a kind of a midline between dev and ops DevSecOps is happening at scale. What are the blockers and what are the enablers for super cloud? What do we need? Let's see what do get your take? >>Sure. So UN I spoke about this a little bit in, at New York summit, the big trend I'm seeing, and it's, it's a blocker that's being sort of taken care of by enterprises, which is, you know, until very recently, Kubernetes was effectively a project that NA would take on. They'd try things out, they'd go to the cloud, they'd spin things up. And then the next team would come and they'd do the same things. And there was no consistency. There was no ization, it's a mess, right? It's all over the place. Some things are moving fast. Some things are not going fast and this is not how enterprises do business, right? That's not how things work. Traditionally enterprises have had it organizations that create standards, right? So those it organizations now kind of are starting to think like a platform organization. So centrally come up with the right framework for all application teams to consume infrastructure, modern infrastructure. So I'm not using the word Kubernetes here because Kubernetes is an enabler. We are a Kubernetes company, obviously, but it's about modern applications, modern infrastructure. So stepping back and thinking about it as to how an enterprise will do this across the board is the right answer. And I'm seeing this happen in a pretty significant way across all the large enterprises I talked to. >>That's why you've had a great career. And we talked before you came on Opia you did a turnaround there, we, you even go back to the old days of the web web 1.0 and early software. You've seen the movie before. >>Yes. >>You know, complexity is not solved way more complexity. This is kind of the old enterprise way. And they don't want that. They've seen the benefits of self-service. They see architecture and standards as being an enabler. Where are we in here in the market? Is, are we positioned in your opinion for customers to get the value of a super cloud? >>Absolutely. So if you think about, first of all, I think the topic of cloud native developers and app developers picking containers and Kubernetes, that's a done deal, right? That has already happened. So every cloud native developer is already using these tools. Now, I think as has been discussed today in you, in the earlier sessions, is, are the operations and infrastructure catching up or they're lagging behind, right? As more and more developers are using multi-cloud technologies, enterprises are creating a choice, I think operations and what we also strongly believe that's actually part of the name of our company is, is a platform. The platform of which a company uses to transform itself to be cloud native is the big opportunity. I don't think it's a blocker, but it's a huge opportunity. And I think this is where, you know, as you can't stop developers from developing on different clouds, private, public, multi edge, that's gonna happen. Innovation is gonna continue. But then how does the infrastructure in the platform make it seamless? Right? And almost treat all these different clouds as a single pan super cloud platform. That's I think is the >>Opportunity. So we in a platform more than with other companies, or is there one unified platform called cloud native? We know customers been buying tools from security they're they got so many tools in, in their tools shed, so to speak. What is that platform? I mean, is it more unique, fragmentation? Is it unified? >>I mean, if you think about it, a couple of it's a combination of tools that are stitched together to reach a purpose, right? So if you think about, you know, APIs continued APIs that's been discussed earlier today, I think that's, that should be standardized. The other thing is always on monitoring because I think that's a very key aspect. Once you build it, then as the enterprises are using it, the always on monitoring becomes. So I think it's a combination of capabilities that are stitched together to enable the acceleration for companies to become cloud native. >>I, I have a thought on a blocker. None of you guys are gonna like it. Oh, maybe you can come. Maybe some of you guys probably won't but comment, but maybe John will. I think AWS is a blocker to Supercloud cuz they, they don't want those cross cloud service. It's like they, they, for years they wouldn't even say multicloud. The first time I heard it was in Boston three weeks ago, I actually heard it. So Hey, you see, >>You know, I'm gonna disagree with that. Okay. >>But, but okay, go ahead. All >>So we'll get their reaction. So my, we just heard from the last panel that the security should be leading the consortium. Yeah. Because they're, they're not the enemy they're actually, >>Maybe they should be >>Well back in the old web days, when standards were driving things, you had a common enemy, proprietary NASAs, proprietary networking stack. So the evil empire was at and T that's owned Unix. If you remember, they copyright that. >>So you think they're greasing the skids for, >>I think Supercloud, I think the hyperscalers could cuz they're driving the CapEx, they're providing the value. So in my opinion, Amazon and Azure, whoever does the right thing first can win every, maybe >>This is how Google could catch up >>It. It could be a, it could be a Slingshot move. It could, you know, boomerang, someone to the front of the line or extend. Amazon's already huge lead. So if I'm AWS, if I'm Adam Slosky and I'm talking to Andy Jassy, he says, how am I gonna differentiate myself? I'd say, I'm gonna come in and own multicloud. I'm gonna own Supercloud we are the Supercloud and you work with AWS's primitives in a way that makes services work. I would go for that. I'd be like, okay, show me more. What do you >>Think? I, I, I don't think think any one company is going to be a super cloud because I think yes, there is going to be a lot of workloads on public clouds, but there's a huge amount of workloads at the enterprise at the edge at the store. I think those will continue for various reasons, whether it's data, sovereignty regulations. So I think it's going to be a combination. Everybody's not gonna go to one, you know, cloud, it's going to be an amalgamation. >>Okay. But I I've argued that snowflake is a form of a super data cloud and a very specific use case, you know, Aviatrix is trying to be a network, you know, layer and you know, sneak in a security, let me on and on, on a lot of small you get, you get super cloud stove pipes, but, but nonetheless you're, you're still abstracting. I mean, we've this industry attractions, right? >>Well this, this concept I completely agree with, right? This idea that, so, so one of the, my is that right now enterprises buy 500 different technologies and they have to become PhDs in 500 different things. It's just never gonna happen skills issue, which is no way. Right. So what's gonna happen is all of these providers are gonna essentially become managed service providers. Cloud is in manifestation of that. Snowflake is a ation data breaks is a manifestation of that. Right? So in our general industry, there's gonna be a handful of platforms. Right. And they're gonna work across these clouds. Amazon may have one too. Right? Look, they, they, they, for the longest time sort of ignored OnPrem, but now they have something called SSA, which runs on Preem. Right. Why, why would they bother? Because, well, obviously there's a lot of money to be made in a data center as well. >>So I, my sense is they get it completely understand and appreciate that there's other things outside of Amazon. But in terms of what Bosco was talking about, my sense is, you know, these multiple platforms will come about. And to the point we were making earlier about standardization and I, I mean, is it gonna be one company or is it gonna be standards that everybody will else will adopt? There's a topic that the three of us have talked about before, which is this vCenter for Kubernetes. Right. And all due respect to kit. Right. My sense is that there there's gonna be multiple companies that are gonna start working towards a vCenter for Kubernetes. And it is right. I mean, that's how I've, I mean, I've been thinking about this before and a half years, including >>VMware. >>Yeah. And you know, and we, we should compare notes. Right. But what's gonna happen is there was a, there was a distinct advantage VMware had back in the day because ESX was their product. Right. And that was a standard right now. What's the ESX in the new it's sort of Kubernetes, right. I mean, it's on bare metal for the most part or whatever VMs. So that's a standard, that's got standardized APIs, the things around it are standardized APIs. So what is the unfair advantage that one company has other than execution? >>Nothing. Well also composability if you over rotate on Kubernetes, for example, and not take advantage of say C two, for instance. Totally, >>Totally. >>It's a mix and match. >>Yeah. But I think, I think if you get too focused on Kubernetes, it's a means to an end. Yeah. But at the end of the day, it it's a mean to end end. And I think all these tools, there's a lot of standardization happening that's gonna happen. Right. And no one vendor is gonna control that. Right. It's it's going to be, it's gonna continue. I think how you bring these together and orchestrate right. And manage the service. Because I think that if you think about the lack of skills to keep up with the operations and platforms is one of the largest inhibitors right now for enterprises to move as fast as they want to become cloud native. >>And you have the shiny new toy problem kit where people just go and grab it. You know, Keith Townsend has a, as a quote, he says, look, we essentially move at the speed of the CIO or else we're going too fast or too slow. So, so the, to, to the point about the new toy now I've got new skills. >>Yep. Well, so this has been a really good discussion. And I think so there's a couple of things, right. Going back to the, the paper that we wrote, right. How we have these different sort of layers of multi-cloud services or, or categories of multi-cloud services. And it's exactly to capture some of the ex different examples you just mentioned. And yeah, the challenge is that each of them by themselves are a little bit of an island today. Like you don't have that extra level of integration. And so what the platform teams typically do is try to add that extra glue to make the experience more seamless for the, the, the, you know, developers at that company. And so like, you know, for instance, things like identity. So the nice thing about going to a single public cloud is that there's one, usually one identity system for everything. And that's great. All the different services roles are, you know, are back all that. Stuff's all centralized, but you don't have that when you're going across many different multicloud services. So what does that look like? So I think there's some of these different crosscutting concerns that we need to look at how we standardize on as an industry. And that's, again, one of the things >>You felt that part. And I think, I think also the other key thing is yes, you can always say I'll put everything in one world, world garden and I'm done. Yeah. Okay. But that's not the reality because at some point you need, the flexibility and cost comes into play and flexibility to move comes into play. And I think that is a key factor. Yep. Right. >>Yeah. And so like, so then the question is, what degrees of freedom do you give yourself there? And I think that's the architectural question is how you, how do you design it? What sort of abstractions do you leverage? And I think that goes back to some of our discussion before, which is, do you directly go on top of a native cloud service or do you use a multi-cloud service? >>But I think it's a combination of, I don't think it's either or no, it's not, it's not an either or you have to have the ability to choose a public cloud or do it private. Yeah. At the same time you don't change. It's like a common dictionary, right. You're not gonna change every time the accent changes, you know? So that's, >>So here's a question for you guys. So what has to happen for super clouds, be existing assume that AWS and Azure and Google, aren't gonna sit still assume that maybe they normalize into some sort of swim lane or position that they have to rationalize. What, assuming they're not gonna sit still, what has to happen for super clouds to, to actually work >>Well? Well, I think, you know, really quick going back to the platform team point, I would say that the platform teams at various companies, and we got one at VMware two, they're creating a rudimentary form of a super cloud. Right. Cause they, you know, absolutely like if, if they are supporting multiple clouds, like all the things they're stitching together and all that work, that is a super cloud. The problem is that there's not really a standard approach or architecture or reusable things to enable that. I think that's really what's missing. >>Yeah. But I think the key here is standard us reusable. Because for example, we have customers who are in doesn't matter where they are, some of their loads are in public cloud. Some are in private, some are at the edge, but they're still using the same platform. Yeah. Right. So it is a standard open source based technology. So it is standard. There's no lock in for them from an infrastructure point of view. Yep. And it gives them the flexibility because certain apps, you wanna put it on the public cloud, certain apps, you do not, you need the, I mean, for example, some of the AI, I think earlier discussion that was going on about chips and AI and ML workloads. I mean, think about moving all of that to a public cloud, to, and I think a lot of machine learning and AI applications are going to happen where the data is getting created at the edge. Yeah. At the edge >>Public cloud. It's not gonna happen cloud. It's gonna be real time in, >>It's gonna the end time. And so therefore you have to decide based on your workload, what are you gonna move all the way to a public cloud? And what are you need to do to make business decisions at this spot where the data is created? >>That's a huge disruptor potentially to Supercloud. This is a whole new architecture that emerges at the edge with a whole new set of economics. I >>Think the edge is gonna be like massively disruptive. >>I think it's gonna think about, if you think about the edge, go beyond just the classic definition of edge. Think about branches in stores, retail stores. Yeah. Right. I mean, you cannot shut down retail store because you lost connectivity to the network or something you still have to serve your company >>Edge is a disruptive enabler. I think it's gonna change potentially change the position of the players in the business. Whoever embraces the edge. >>Yeah. Maybe going back to the question that you had asked before, which is what is, what is a framework for a super cloud? So you said something that is important, which is your team's burning one. Yeah. I met that team. Actually. They seem to be very sharp guys. >>They're they're mine. They're my are great. They're awesome. >>We got a deal going on here. Yeah. >>I tried. We have >>It. >>So this is the interesting part, right? So I will pause it that the super cloud of the future will be a company that owns zero servers and no network. >>Okay. >>That's gonna happen. Okay. So I just kind of it's >>Full point you >>Made before I made that point just about the public cloud, just so Mr. >>Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that really interesting. Not >>We that, so I've thought about this a long time that in my opinion, and I've, I'm, I'm sure I've said this to you, John, that, you know, the one company that I've always believed has the best shot at doing this well is actually VMware because that's the one company that's, you know, that there's, there's no, you know, infrastructure back haul. Right. You know, that you're carrying, but, but in terms of thinking and getting there, you know, being, being a company that can do it is not the same as being the company who has done it. That's a, there's a distance, but >>I have to defend that now because hyperscalers are not gonna be able to super cloud. They're not now it's hype. See, agreed, great point. Public clouds will be part of the super cloud. Yeah, totally. But they will not, the hyperscalers are not building super clouds. Totally. They're blocking it. Right. Yeah. >>They're enabling it. >>We agree on >>No, they're enabling >>Because it's, it's not in there to their advantage. Right. Look, the, the snowflake example you gave is the pivotal example in this conversation. Yep. Right. Why does snowflake exist at all when Redshift exists and all these other things exist because they provide value that is beyond a single clouds purview. Right. And at that point, just step back from our platforms and what we sell. Forget about that for a minute. Right. It's it's about, look, I think, I think this, we are, this market is early, we're out early, right. 10 years from now, what will a company look like? That actually solves a superly problem they're gonna solve for yeah. Kubernetes, whatever. Right. But they're gonna solve for truly modern applications. >>Yeah. They're gonna refactor application that has new economics new value, right. >>At that point, this idea of edge and cloud, forget about it. Right. This is all distribution issues, right. It doesn't really matter. Is it retail or not? Yeah, absolutely. These are places, but, but the way, the right way to think about this is not about edge versus cloud, right? This is about an app. Sometimes it needs to run in one location and it's good enough. Sometimes it needs to run in 10,000 locations and, and it's a distribution issue. I've always believed there's this idea of edge versus cloud. This is BS, right? Because it, it is a cloud over a different size. Sure. But, but I'm making a slightly different point. Sure. Which is, it's a distribution problem. Right. If you step back and think about distribution, my app could run in Azure or AWS or in a retail store, in a branch or whatever. Right. >>And once that is done, the question is, how am I in, in making all this happen? There was a point made in the prior conversation, in the, in the session about a database kind of popping up in the place where I needed to run. Okay. Nobody does that today, by the way. Right. At least truly well right about that, sir, that will come. Right? Yeah. But when that comes, my application is a conglomerate of compute data. I don't know a, a service bus and network and all these things and they will all kind of pop together. That company does not exist >>Today. Well, we'll, we will be documenting which we have more time. We're gonna document it. We have to unfortunately stop this panel because it's awesome. We can go for another hour. Sure.
